These gorgeous hardcovers feature new full-color illustrations and even interactive papercraft and pop-up elements, making them one of the coolest editions of Harry Potter yet. They look like the books you would pull out of the Flourish and Blotts shelves when you were shopping for supplies for the new school year at Hogwarts. The set goes on sale on October 1 and is currently discounted to $87 on Amazon, which is a 25% savings on the $116 list price before Prime Big Deal Day.
Harry Potter Books 1-3 MinaLima Edition Boxed
$87($116)
The set includes interactive versions of Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. Most pages of each book feature complete, unabridged text and illustrations. Each book also includes eight unique interactive sections, adding a tactile element to each story’s key moments, such as opening Harry’s invitation to Hogwarts in The Sorcerer’s Stone or taking a spin in Prisoner of Azkaban Time converter. The collection includes a display box with an illustration of the Hogwarts Express and the moment Harry finally receives one of the many Hogwarts acceptance letters that flooded the Dursleys’ home.
You can purchase the Harry Potter Books 1-3 MinaLima Edition Box Set at Amazon, Target, and Walmart, all of which stores currently carry the collection for $86.72 (regularly $116).
MinaLima editions of the Harry Potter books are also available individually, and you can buy them all at a deeper discount. Currently, all three standalone versions are available for a total of $69.20. You may miss out on the special collector’s box, but other than that, these hardcover editions are identical to the ones in the box.

If you are interested in these unique editions of Harry Potter, you should know that you will not be able to complete your MinaLima Harry Potter books. Following the launch of the series earlier this year, Scholastic announced that the interactive version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will have a new illustrator.
It will be interesting to see if Scholastic eventually releases new editions of the first three books to ensure consistency (readers love matching sets). MinaLima Studio designed props for the adaptations of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so its history with Harry Potter goes back further than the interactive books. There’s even a MinaLima-designed book about the studio’s work on the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films; Magic of MinaLima is available on Amazon for $26.53 (originally $50) .
While these books are unique compared to many other versions of Harry Potter, Minalima created similar versions of other popular books before “The Philosopher’s Stone.” MinaLima’s catalog includes beautiful editions of classic children’s books, including Peter Pan (2015), Jungle Cruise (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Little Mermaid (2018), “Alice in Wonderland” (2020), “The Wizard”, “Oz” (2021), etc. If you look at the books, you’ll see that the studio has a unique style. If the Harry Potter interactive series continues, it seems likely that readers will notice this change when they move from book three to book four.

If you’re looking for more new Harry Potter illustrated books to add to your collection, there’s the upcoming Hogwarts Christmas hardcover edition. The book features Chapter 12 of The Philosopher’s Stone, which tells the story of Harry’s first Christmas at Hogwarts. The text is accompanied by new illustrations of Hogwarts festive and winter scenes. “A Hogwarts Christmas” releases on October 15th, and you can pre-order it on Amazon for $14 (normally $20).
There’s also the Harry Potter Illustrated Edition, an oversized coffee table book first launched in 2015.
The Harry Potter series is one of the most popular media franchises of the past few decades, but its reputation has been tarnished in recent years due to repeated transphobic comments made by the series’ author and creator J.K. Rowling. As the owner of the Harry Potter IP, she directly profits from sales of Harry Potter books, merchandise, and other licensed items, even though she was not directly involved in their creation. Readers are encouraged to read this article, which explains how Rowling’s comments are hurting the global trans community.
