Zainab Akhtar’s all-digital October online comic convention, ShortBox Comic Conreturning in 2024 with more than 100 artists. Every creator can obtain digital comics through the SBCF website throughout the month. So don’t worry about the version being sold out, just get it in time. Whether you’re a regular reader of the annual digital comic or you’re discovering it for the first time, there will be comics to surprise and delight you. Or disgust you, stimulate your senses, break your heart, unlock a memory, summon a ghost that haunts you. some of you able Predict is one of the most powerful works in the comics medium, a direct connection between creator and reader, Now.
SBCF consists of comics of various lengths, themes, and styles. I picked out 24 titles to be released at ShortBox Comic Expo 2024, and a half-dozen or so of them are by creators I really like, and most of them are titles I think are pretty cool. That said, this list is probably more reflective of my personal interest in comics than it is of all that the expo has to offer.
The digital version of SBCF is the PDF version that you purchase, download and own. Money goes directly to each creator. There are no fair fees for artists, no merchandise cuts or table fees. Last year SBCF artists made a total of $400,000. Akhtar had always been a publisher of physical books and was one of the most popular publishers in the modern micro-print world, but she found that all the logistics of printing, distribution and promotion got in the way of her love of editorial curation. The focus of SBCF is not her success; This is to improve the level of creators.
