Marvel has finally released the first trailer for Thunderbolts*, giving you the chance to wonder, “Wait, what MCU movie are they in?”
While I’m sure some of you have seen the Thunderbolts* leaked from D23 earlier this year, I imagine enough of you have been holding off until the official trailer was released, and if that’s you, then today’s your day days. Marvel has finally released the first trailer for its new superhero movie, but while it’s a “trailer” in name only, it’s actually a pretty long one. Florence Pugh returns from 2021’s Black Widow as Yelena Belova, who looks set to take center stage in the film.

There are also some other returning faces, such as Sebastian Stan as Bucky Banas, Hannah John-Kamen as Specter (last seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp), Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (both) David in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Harbour plays the Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko plays Oversight (both from “Black Widow”), and Harrison Ford plays Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (previously played by William Hurt, Ford replaced role in Captain America: Brave New World). Some new actors also appear, such as Lewis Pullman as “Bob” and Geraldine Viswanathan as Defontaine’s assistant Mel.
Of course, you might be wondering, what are all these slightly random characters doing mixed together? Well, it’s not exactly clear yet, but the general idea is that they’re a group of anti-heroes sent on a mission by the government. Presumably it’s a bit complicated and hopefully the movie will expand on the asterisk in the title (no, that’s not a typo).
Days of Thunder* was originally scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025, and the movie’s website still says that, but the trailer is a little more vague and only says May 2025, so there’s always a chance the movie could change slightly. Regardless, you’ll probably be able to watch it in May—if Marvel has wooed you enough with a bunch of B-list stars.
