The Odyssey CBFC cuts
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC has cleared The Odyssey without asking for a single cut or modification. No scene or dialogue has reportedly been altered, meaning Indian audiences are expected to watch the same version being screened internationally
The only restriction is its certification. The film has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate, making it accessible only to viewers aged 18 and above. The censor certificate was issued on July 9, with the film’s runtime listed as 172.33 minutes, or 2 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds
Christopher Nolan, Tom Holland in Mumbai
Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan and Hollywood star Tom Holland on Friday arrived in Mumbai ahead of their film The Odyssey’s India premiere. Matt Damon also joined the promotional event. After the press screening, Nolan praised Indian audiences as some of the world’s most enthusiastic and knowledgeable moviegoers. He said, “Thank you so much for being here. Thank you for welcoming us. It’s always a thrill to be in India. I’ve had the pleasure of filming here twice. Once in Jodhpur, once in Mumbai. Every time we come here, it’s very, very special.”
About The Odyssey
The Odyssey is an upcoming mythic action epic film written, directed and co-produced by Christopher Nolan, based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem
It follows Odysseus on a ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the fall of Troy. Produced by Syncopy and distributed by Universal Pictures, the film releases on July 17, 2026. The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Athena, Charlize Theron as Calypso, Robert Pattinson as Antinous and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy
The Odyssey is the first movie to be shot entirely using IMAX’s 70 mm cameras, and Nolan hopes that the film inspires fellow filmmakers, such as Sinners helmer Ryan Coogler, to follow suit
