Twitch streamer and New York-based content creator Tylil James has landed in major controversy after filming a flight attendant serving him on a commercial flight. James faced massive backlash on social media as several users accused him of filming the flight attendant to mock her. James took to his social media to apologize publicly as he wrote:
“Everyone please stop the hurtful comments. She was so sweet and I loved her! I’m sorry my post brought any negativity her way. She deserves nothing but respect & love.”
In the now-deleted 17-second clip, the flight attendant leaned close to the camera while offering ice cream topping options such as almonds, orange, and cherry. James replied to her, saying, ‘just chocolate chips’. The flight attendant politely asked whether he would like her to add some hot fudge or caramel, to which the Twitch streamer asked for some hot fudge. According to Mundo Deportivo, James posted the clip on his social media accounts with the caption:
“My flight attendant was so nice.”
Tylil James has now deleted the video and apologized.
Here’s more about it.
Tylil James apologized after facing backlash for filming a flight attendant
Tylil James apologized after facing backlash for filming a flight attendant on a commercial flight. James initially shared a 17-second video of the flight attendant in uniform politely asking for his choice of ice cream toppings. James captioned the post praising the flight attendant. However, the video went viral, and users have slammed the Twitch streamer. For instance, a user (@bapiopm) accused James, saying:
“He’s acting oblivious, pretending like he recorded her because she was being nice, when in reality, he was trying to make fun of her and bully her.”
Another user urged Tylil James to stop making everything and everyone into content. Several users pointed out that the attendant was simply doing her job; however, James’s decision to post her video intentionally exposed her to intense online scrutiny. @Oyennabig1 commented:
“Filming her face without asking and posting it turns a hardworking person into entertainment. She’s not content, she’s a human being who deserves the same respect any of us would want. We can do better.”
Following the widespread backlash, the streamer deleted the video and publicly apologized. Many users argued that the damage was already done. Critics accused him of damage control rather than a genuine apology.
“Recorded her without consent for her to get made fun on multiple platforms but now u wanna tell ppl to stop?”
According to Mundo Deportivo, a user claimed to be a passenger on the same flight as James. The user claimed that the flight attendant was nice to everyone. However, this claim remains unverified.
