Netflix has announced Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, a live-action prequel set to premiere in 2028. Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes.

A new chapter of Stranger Things will unfold in the 1950s. Netflix announced Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure on November 6, 2026, a live-action series set to premiere in 2028. The first teaser takes us to Marion, Nevada, several decades before the adventures of the Hawkins gang.

Titled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure in the original version, this prequel will have its own heroes, adversaries and settings, Matt and Ross Duffer explain. Its story will also precede that of the play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which is set in 1959. This journey back in time offers a chance to explore another period in the Stranger Things universe, whose main story came to an end with the fifth season.

The cast has yet to be announced, and Netflix has not provided a more specific timeline than 2028.
