Dolly Parton‘s tragic death has resulted in a great deal of drama surrounding her estate, which she tried very hard to prevent before her passing. From her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, being fired, to questions about if the right people are in charge of her estate, the headlines have not been positive at all.
However, that might change starting now, as the singer’s estate, She’s Alive, LLC, has now dropped its lawsuit against Parton’s nephew and former head of security Bryan Seaver. She’s Alive, LLC filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of its lawsuit against Seaver in the Chancery Court of Tennessee on Thursday, November 5, per People. The dismissal was filed without prejudice, meaning the suit could be brought up again.
“Mr. Seaver cares deeply about his Aunt Dolly, her music, her family, and the incredible legacy she left behind,” Seaver’s attorney told TMZ. “He has made a career out of protecting his aunt while she was alive and remains committed to Dolly and his entire family. Mr. Seaver is grateful to put this misunderstanding behind him so that the entire family can continue to grieve peacefully and ensure that the bright light of Dolly’s legacy remains entirely untouched.”
She’s Alive, LLC claimed Seaver made a series of threats which had scared employes, and had gone as far as to accuse him of trying to destroy the Parton brand. Seaver denied the allegations and claimed private messages were taken out of context.
“I care about Ms. Parton, her music, her legacy, and her family. I do not want this dispute to harm her legacy,” Seaver said in an October 13 court filing.
Seaver also brought out the big guns, namely his mom, sharing a message to his Facebook written by his mother Cassie, who was Parton’s younger sister.
“In recent weeks, I have been asked to make a public statement concerning my son, Bryan Seaver. While I have struggled with the thought of speaking publicly during such a painful and personal time, I feel it is important that I share what is in my heart—not to address disagreements or disputes, but simply to speak as a mother who dearly loves her son,” she wrote in an October 26 post.
She also opened up about Parton’s relationship with Bryan: “Throughout his adult life, Bryan shared a very special and meaningful relationship with my sister Dolly. She was not only his aunt, but also his godmother. Their bond was deeply personal, and I know how much she meant to him. I have witnessed his devotion to her and the love and concern he has shown for those closest to him throughout the years. I know that Bryan is experiencing tremendous heartache, just as so many of us are.”
This all comes after Parton’s driver, Jason Pirro, explained the “9 to 5” singer’s real cause of death. Parton died on Aug. 25, 2026, after a short battle with cancer—but grief also played a role
“I think that’s why she passed away so soon after [her husband, Carl Thomas Dean] did,” he explained to In Touch. “She died of a broken heart, but she didn’t want to say that because she didn’t want people feeling sorry for her.”
