A good, true romcom manga is hard to find, in my opinion. A lot of manga are categorized as romcoms, but when you read them, the comedic aspect of the romcom happens to be missing. Romcom manga should make you laugh out loud and make you swoon just as much.
Romcom manga are safe havens for many readers as well. Laughter and love become elixirs for the soul in times of need, and romcoms have them both. While I couldn’t include all the new romcom manga, some deserve honorable mentions like You and I Are Polar Opposites and Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, to name a few, that truly bring romance and comedy together. In this list, you’ll get to read about overworked office workers finding solace in the smile of a supermarket cashier, blushing male students who have a hard time talking to girls, hilarious streamers who crush on their grumpy neighbor, and many more.
For this list, I use the term “new” broadly. Because manga often comes in multiple volumes that let the story build over time, it’s harder to separate them into new and older releases. What constitutes a new release in the manga world? Sure, a first volume that was released recently. But I also believe that a manga that came out in the past couple of years and is still currently releasing volumes is still considered a “new” manga. While most of the romcom manga included in this list have released their first volume this year, don’t be surprised to find one or two romcoms whose second or seventh volumes are fresh off the press.

In So Deep, It’s Love Already by Reida Soragaki
When Momoka Kirino gets rejected by her middle school crush, she vows never to fall in love again. Better yet? She becomes an otaku and lives a fan life!
Now in high school, a new transfer student arrives in her class. And, fortunately for her, he looks and sounds just like her 2D crushes. Momoka just became Shuuto Kametani’s new fan.
You find out pretty early on that this manga is hilarious. Momoka, the protagonist, is chaotic, full of life, and the personification of the sun. On the other hand, Shuuto is shy, easily blushes, and is bad with social interactions. Their dynamic is charming and interesting to follow!

Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You by Jinushi
While this romcom manga has been releasing since 2024, the seventh volume–the newest–recently landed in stores. The anime adaptation finished streaming not so long ago, which has made its popularity grow even more this year.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You effortlessly mixes comedy and romance in a setting like no other: in a supermarket. Overworked office worker Sasaki is tired of the corporate life. His only ways to decompress are to have a smoke and to talk to his favorite cashier, Yamada, at the supermarket. When one visit leads to his being invited to smoke at the back of the store with a woman named Tayama, he thinks he has just found a new friend. But what he doesn’t know is that Tayama is really Yamada!

We’re Not Cut Out to Be Lovers by Kou Hirokawa
For the grumpy/sunshine enjoyers, We’re Not Cut Out to Be Lovers is, hands down, one of the best romcom manga out there.
One night, grumpy mechanic Kumazawa has finally had it with his loud next-door neighbor, Koichi, a streamer who shares romance tips with his online fandom. Kumazawa decides to put a stop to it! But when he arrives at Koichi’s door, he surprises himself by kissing him.

I Picked Up a No-Good, Useless Prince by Gunjo Kazuki
In the midst of contemporary romcoms, how about a cozy fantasy romcom manga? I Picked Up a No-Good, Useless Prince follows Emma Norwinner, an innkeeper, who finds her idol, Prince Kulhi, collapsed at her door after he was banished from the castle. Committed to helping him out, she offers him a room at the inn in exchange for his helping her run it. But soon, she realizes that this prince doesn’t know how to do things, especially running an inn!

Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko! by Sal Jiang
Any miscommunication fans in the building? Best believe that if you hate this trope, don’t read this. But for the ones who love when characters overthink and misjudge conversations and actions (me!!!), Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko could become a fast favorite.
Ayaka has been head over heels in love with her boss, Hiroko. But Hiroko is oblivious to it. Whenever Ayaka tries to show her, Hiroko doesn’t get the picture. A workplace rom-com manga that will have you kicking up your feet with the couple’s cute interactions and make you laugh out loud with its comedic moments.
