After a year of waiting, we’re now less than a month away from the big release of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, but it there’s still more to learn about the game
PlayStation revealed their San Diego Comic-Con 2026 lineup information today, and fighting game fans are going to be interested in what they have to show
They’re slated to hold a Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – Behind the Battle panel at the event
Sajam is slated to host with developers from Arc System Works and Marvel Games offering behind-the-scenes looks at the game’s creation, but that’s not all
The official description of the panel states they will also have ‘surprise announcements’ for Marvel Tokon too
“Step into the arena with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Moderated by fighting game commentator and streamer Sajam, Game Producer Takeshi Yamanaka (Arc System Works), Localization Director Amber Seitz (Arc System Works), and Senior Product Development Manager Michael Francisco (Marvel Games) take you inside the making of the game and the creation of Marvel Tokon’s place in the Marvel Universe. The development team is joined by Mike Deodato (Marvel Comics artist and Knights of Doom illustrator) and voice actor Josh Keaton (Iron Man and Spider-Man) to showcase behind-the scenes-looks, and surprise announcements you won’t want to miss.”
Heads up! #MARVELTokon: Fighting Souls will be at SDCC on July 23-26!Hosted by @Sajam, our panel featuring @yamanaka_ARC, Amber Seitz (ASW), Michael Francisco (Marvel Games), @mikedeodato (Marvel Comics Illustrator) , and @joshkeaton (Voice Actor) will discuss the making of… https://t.co/wTRDdL6Dw4

So what exactly are they going to be revealing?
Well, the most obvious answer would be the Year 1 DLC characters for the 4v4 fighting game, so we could see the four new fighters (and stage) that are going to be added to the title in the months after launch
Since Marvel Tokon is themed around teams, it’ll be interesting to learn if that pattern will carry on in the DLC too or if things are going to be more separated
We suspect the devs are going to follow the usual route of releasing a new character every few months, but perhaps they’ll drop them all together to complete said team — though we have doubts on that
Fans are also speculating we could see playable versions of The Promoter and The Champion as well since they are going to be the catalyst behind Marvel Tokon’s Story Mode too
On that front, ArcSys and Marvel may finally showcase what said story mode actually looks like and function in motion as well as the rest of the game’s features that will be available
Some new character costumes could be on the menu as well, so we’ll see what they’re cooking up in the coming weeks
While Marvel’s new 4v4 title is likely going to be the biggest fighting game launch of this pretty stacked year, it has faced some controversy as of late
Marvel Tokon’s PC sales were recently revealed to be banned in over 130 countries due to PlayStation Network account access being unavailable in those regions despite being on Steam
There’s going to be 20 characters in the launch roster with the Samurai Outriders team being the final one revealed containing Ghost Rider, Deadpool, Blade and Loki
The rest of the initial cast includes Storm, Wolverine, Magik, and Danger for the Unbreakable X-Men, Ms. Marvel, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, and Star-Lord on the Amazing Guardians, Black Panther, Captain America, Hulk, and Iron Man with the Fighting Avengers and then Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage on the Knights of Doom
PlayStation’s Marvel Tokon panel is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 23, from 12-12:45 p.m. PT, and while it doesn’t sound like the events are going to be streamed, the reveals will be posted on the PlayStation Blog for everyone at home as well as recordings of the panels afterwards
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is releasing on August 6 for the PlayStation 5 and PC
