The Fortnite Pirate Shop Token has brought the community to life, with everyone doing what they can to get a token and have a free shopping spree. An alleged Compass theory has blown up, but there are questions about its legitimacy.
Fortnite‘s One Piece collab didn’t just bring you themed content and skins; it brought with it one of the most sensational live-service promotions ever—the Pirate Token. A secret collectible that makes most of the Fortnite item shop free, giving you hundreds of dollars worth of free cosmetics. It’s unprecedented, and players believe there’s an equally hidden compass to make this more achievable.
Is the Compass in Fortnite Real?

The Fortnite Pirate Token Compass is not real, and it’s a made-up TikTok trend that looks very convincing.
The many downsides of social media include the spreading of misinformation and deceit. If you’ve seen people asking how to get the Compass in Fortnite and not getting many answers, that’s because there’s a simple one: There isn’t a Compass.

Naturally, with every Fortnite player on the planet eager to acquire the Pirate Shop Token and enjoy the benefits that await, users are looking for every shortcut imaginable. There are methods to increase your odds, such as landing in the most loot chest-heavy POIs, for example, but there’s no guaranteed method, and definitely no Compass.
What is the Fortnite Compass Method?

The non-existent Compass in Fortnite supposedly tells you if there’s a Pirate Token-containing loot chest in your game and shows you the direction to it.
I have to admit, this is a convincing lie. But if you see a video on TikTok or YouTube featuring a Compass in the bottom-right corner with a Pirate Token symbol on it, know this is fake, edited, AI, or all of the above.

Literally, the only way to get a Pirate Token is through random chance, opening chests. It’s believed the chances of finding a Token are in the hundreds of thousands to one. It wouldn’t be smart for Epic to suddenly start giving away all of the game’s many cosmetics to everyone.
Here’s an example of what people have been seeing on social media, thanks to KokeTrukko, and what to look out for.
