2000AD Takes Over the Cartoon Museum in early 2027!

2000AD, theGalaxy’s Greatest Comic, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a complete takeover of London’s Cartoon Museum in early 2027, with a special celebratory exhibition.
50 Years of 2000 AD & Judge Dredd, curated and organised by Rebellion, is an exhibition that will feature artwork from across the history of 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine, loaned by artists, private collectors and from the company’s own archives, it will also include a brand-new, life-sized statue of Judge Dredd based on co-creator Carlos Ezquerra’s full-length painting of his most celebrated character. The exhibition will also highlight how the comic is made, and how its influence can be felt far beyond the comics’ pages.
Original artwork on display will include pieces by Carlos Ezquerra, Simon Bisley, Brian Bolland, Steve Dillon, Kevin O’Neill, Glenn Fabry, Mick McMahon, Steve Yeowell, Chris Weston, Simon Davis, Ron Smith, Bryan Talbot, Henry Flint, Anna Readman, Cam Kennedy, John M Burns, Simon Fraser, Brett Ewins, Sean Philips, Silvia Califano, Jock, Fraser Irving, Dave Kendall, Jim Murray, Cliff Robinson, Tom Foster, David Roach, John Higgins, Eric Bradbury, Alan Davis, José Casanovas, Simon Coleby, Trevor Hairsine, Arthur Ranson, Ian Gibson and many more.
“We knew we had to celebrate 2000AD’s half-century with a really important show,” says Rebellion’s Head of Film, TV & Publishing, Ben Smith. “The comic has been a huge influence on readers and creators globally across multiple generations. There is barely a corner of popular culture where the influence of the comic is not felt whether in film, video games, comics, music or elsewhere.
“In 2017 we celebrated the 40th anniversary with an exhibition in the Cartoon Museum’s old gallery space – a show that brought in tens of thousands of visitors. As long-standing supporters and collaborators with the Museum in its current home, we are delighted to be partnering once again. And as the future depicted in Judge Dredd has become more prescient by the year bringing the UK’s best-known comic book character to the capital’s only dedicated comic book museum is a major moment.”
