REMOW has announced a TV anime adaptation of Satoshi Mizukami’s Spirit Circle, which will begin airing and streaming in December 2026. The announcement comes ten years after the manga concluded in 2016. A teaser visual, trailer, main cast, cast messages and the anime’s ending theme song have also been revealed. The series will run for 18 episodes.
The story follows Fuuta Okeya, a middle school student who can see spirits. His life changes when he meets Kouko Ishigami, a mysterious transfer student who suddenly tries to kill him. The two share a connection that goes back to their past lives.
Fuuta uses a device called the Spirit Circle to revisit his previous lives, taking him through seven different lifetimes across different eras, from ancient civilisations to the future. His journey explores the history connecting him and Kouko, and their repeated conflicts across different identities.
Tatsuo Sato, known for directing Martian Successor Nadesico, Bodacious Space Pirates and Stelloduction was completed under assistant director Kentaro Mizuno, with animation handled jointly by NAGOMI and EOTA, both part of the Twin Engine Group
The studios and Twin Engine also issued a statement expressing their gratitude for Sato’s contribution and offering condolences following his passing. Mizukami said adapting the seven-life story required an unusual production length, longer than one cour but shorter than two, and thanked the staff, particularly Sato. The main cast includes Kazuki Ura as Fuuta, Anna Nagase as Kouko, Eri Yukimura as Rune and Yuichi Nakamura as East.
Mizukami wrote and illustrated the original Spirit Circle manga, which ran in Shonen Gahosha’s Young King OURs magazine from May 2012 to March 2016. Its chapters were collected in six volumes. The series combines science fiction with a coming-of-age story.
