You may think you’ve seen it all…

But have you ever born witness to Kelly Ripa dressed as Elizabeth Holmes while Mark Consuelos plays a fellow Traitorscontestant feeling deceived? We didn’t think so.

The costume—which saw Ripa dressed up as the Theranos founder in a Traitors-inspired spoof—was just one of many the morning show hosts donned as part of their annual Halloween special, this year titled “Live’s Halloween Shockin’ Eve.”

With that theme, it only made sense that one of the skeletons the show dug out of its closet was Ripa’s former cohost Ryan Seacrest, who’s been at the helm of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve for more than two decades. The Wheel of Fortunehost joined Ripa and Consuelos for the episode’s opening sequence.

As for Ripa’s look as Holmes, this is actually the second time Ripa has taken on the tech founder’s persona, originally doing so for Live in 2021—though some things have changed since then. (And we don’t just mean Holmes’ incarceration status.)

“There’s a clipped nature to her voice, but it’s not as deep as it was when I was Elizabeth Holmes the first time many years ago,” Ripa explained to USA Todayahead of the Halloween episode. “She was much more imitatable several years ago. Now, it’s more of her being a normal person, which is harder.”

Her husband, however, assured her, “Your voice is fantastic. You’ve got the whole thing going on.”

Other viral moments that were reimagined for spooky season during the Oct. 30 episode—which featured, per USA Today, the series’ most looks ever at a whopping 60—included the horror film Obsession, Toy Story 5, Spider-Man, squishy toys and even Taylor Swiftbeing spirited beneath the Eras Tour stage hidden inside a utility cart.

But despite the viral nature of their costumes, Ripa and Consuelos admitted the themes are starting to get away from them.

Or, as Consuelos put it, “As we get older, we don’t know what the hell is going on.”

Indeed, as they filmed some of the scenes ahead of Halloween

“Ninety percent of what we were,” the 56-year-old said, “we spent screaming, ‘What are we?’”

And that was especially true for Consuelos while imitating Swift’s clandestine journey, the 55-year-old recalling, “I had no idea what we were doing. They said, ‘Get in here. Just get in here and look around, do this and do that.'”

Such an operation requires many hands—with some crew members even needing to pull the occasional graveyard shift year-round to ensure everything comes together, according to executive producer Michael Gelman.

“We start working on the show literally Nov. 1,” he explained. “The day after the old Halloween show and collecting things that are building in pop culture, and sometimes we’re changing things up to the very last minute because things are happening or becoming talked about.”

For a closer look at the totally terrifying and frighteningly good costumes your favorite Hollywood celebrities have dug up from the grave this year, read on.

    By JamesJuly 19, 20260
