This is only the first of three planned adaptations based on Death Stranding.
Kojima Productions has unveiled the first teaser and poster for the anime Death Stranding Isolations. The video introduces a blonde girl haunted by nightmares and is accompanied by the tagline “My mom turned into a crater.” Judging by the synopsis, she is one of the main heroines of the upcoming series.
The story will be set in North America shortly after Sam Bridges connected the continent to the Chiral Network. Restoring the connections helped the country rebuild, but it also brought unforeseen consequences. The plot will center on new characters: a girl who grew accustomed to loneliness after the catastrophe and shut herself off from others; an old man who found his own way to unite people; a female soldier trapped in the cycle of war; and a young man embittered by the injustice of his life. Random events will cause their paths to cross.
The anime is being produced by studio E&H production, known for “Ninja Kamui”. It is directed by Takayuki Sano, who worked on the final season of “Attack on Titan” and “Jujutsu Kaisen”, while the script is who worked on “Mardock Scramble”, “Psycho-Pass”, and the “Ghost in the Shell” franchise. Ilya Kuvshinov is handling the original character designs, and Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer
Concurrently, two more Death Stranding adaptations are in development. The feature-length anime Death Stranding Mosquito is being directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto from a script by Aaron Guzikowski, while director Michael Sarnoski is working on the live-action film from A24.
Death Stranding Isolations will premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
