Who says Halloween has to be the domain of ghouls, zombies, and monsters? For the chronically online amongst us, this Halloween offers the chance to show your pop culture chops and sneak a few elite references into your costume—from cinematic horror hits to stunning stage looks. For anyone who needs any last-minute ideas, we’ve curated some of the biggest pop culture moments of 2026 that also easily double as costumes this spooky season—read on for your much-needed internet Halloweenspo.
The Horror Film That Left Everyone Obsessed

Many great horror movies were released in 2026, signifying that we’re currently in a horror renaissance. Curry Baker’s Obsession is only one of the many breakout hits—audiences were drawn to its unique take on horror and its poignant social commentary. The film’s biggest standout is definitely Inde Navarrette’s portrayal of Nikki—both before and after succumbing to the effects of the mysterious One Wish Willow.
Nikki’s alter ego, commonly known as Freaky Nikki, has earned her a spot among the decade’s horror icons. Many will likely recreate Nikki’s outfit from the film’s party scene—consisting of a red zebra-print halter top with black leather shorts and, eventually, a face covered in blood splatter. This image of Nikki is the most recognisable, and will likely be rehashed for many Halloweens to come.
Off Campus’s JLo And Maverick Moment
While Hannah and Garrett were the main couple in season one of Off Campus, Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) also had their moment in the spotlight. When Allie attends a frat house costume party in Jennifer Lopez’s iconic green Versace dress, she takes to the dance floor alone—catching the attention of Dean, dressed as Top Gun’s Maverick, and giving us an entirely unexpected (but very welcome) new Halloween couples costume. Allie and Dean’s dance montage to Lopez’s On The Floor has since gone viral, and many couples are already recreating the pair’s costume on TikTok—but who could resist jumping on the bandwagon when it’s this iconic?
An Homage To Dolly Parton

Country music star Dolly Parton left a lasting legacy, and millions around the world mourned her loss this past August. In the spirit of the Southern belle herself, it is only fitting that we honour her legacy this Halloween by serving up the best country glam. There are many looks to choose from over the many years of her career. Be it a simple red flannel and bellbottom jeans or a stunning pink gown covered in sequins, Miss Dolly really knew how to put on a show. There’s no room for minimalism with this look—the goal is to be as big, bold, and bedazzled as you can be. In the witty words of Parton, “it costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”
Serving Greek Goddess At The Odyssey Premiere
Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of the Greek epic, The Odyssey, was easily one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer. It left its mark on pop culture, as most of Nolan’s films do, but this time it went beyond what transpired on screen. The actresses who starred in The Odyssey served up some gorgeous red carpet looks throughout the film’s international press tour—and Zendaya, the queen of method-dressing, was indisputably the main driver of most off-screen conversations. Her Schiaparelli look at the film’s London premiere was definitely a standout, with the dress’s private jet journey from runway to red carpet enrapturing fans as much as its styling. With loose waves and an ethereal silver eye look, it was immediately one for the books—and for anyone looking to add a touch of the divine to their costume this Halloween, this might be the one to try out.
Lisa’s Sawadika Era

If the VMAs were any indicator, Lisa’s Sawadika era has been a defining moment in the idol’s solo career. The Thai star returned to her roots with a panache that only she can channel, with a fast-paced rap track and a music video that paid homage to Bangkok and Thai culture. A key piece that she leaned into during this era is a pair of Muay Thai boxing shorts—even wearing a bedazzled pair and layering them with other fashion staples like Calvin Klein.
These Days We’ve Got Expectations

Olivia Rodrigo released one of the biggest pop girl collaborations of the year just in time for spooky season: a remix of her song Expectations, featuring Chappell Roan. The song has a fun 80s-style beat, and Rodrigo carries this theme over to the music video. In it, Rodrigo and Roan compete in parodies of game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, with both girls donning a variety of 80s-inspired looks. Whether you prefer Roan’s Gothic aesthetic or Rodrigo’s girly chic, this collaboration is a Pinterest board for pop girl Halloween costumes.
Zara Larsson’s Never-Ending Midnight Sun

Zara Larsson has been making a big comeback since the release of Midnight Sun in 2025. The album was full of fun summer hits, and her shimmery stage looks and bedazzled glam (courtesy of make-up artist Sophia Sinot) have been on every girl’s style moodboard since. Larsson even tested the look out in the equatorial heat at the Padang Stage during the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix—and despite the humidity’s best efforts, the glam performed impeccably. If you’re looking to be a part of her symphony, why not give it a whirl this Halloween?
