FromSoftware has finally broken its silence on its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, but the first bits of news after the information blowout following the closed beta held in Augustare most definitely not good news, as the game has been officially delayed to 2027.
“While development of “The Duskbloods” is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027,” the announcement shared on Xreads. “We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.”
As FromSoftware has not already set a new release date for The Duskbloods, there’s the chance that the next game directed by the uncompromising Hidetaka Miyazaki, his first after Elden Ring, will not launch in either January or February. While the longer wait may be disappointing, this may be the correct choice to give the game the space and time to shine: with games like Stranger Than Heaven, Metroid Ravenous, Persona 4 Revival, God of War Laufey, and Fable launching in the span of a few weeks, it would make sense to release the game from March onwards, as heavy hitters like Final Fantasy VII Revelation are much more spaced out than the early 2027 releases.
Although the Japanese development studio is keeping its cards close to its chest, some new information about The Duskbloods was unearthed earlier this week through a data-mining effort. As no major new discovery was made in the beta client’s files, hopefully, the next official reveal won’t be too far off.
