Twitch is launching “Recaps Spotlight,” a program that lets partner companies share clips from streamers’ “Stream Recaps” on social platforms outside Twitch, including Instagram and YouTube.
Under the program, Twitch’s distribution partners may select standout clips from a streamer’s “Stream Recap” and post them to their own social media accounts. Twitch said every promoted clip credits the streamer and directs viewers to their Twitch channel. Streamers can opt in through Clip Settings on web, at no cost, and can change their participation settings at any time.
Participation does not guarantee promotion. Twitch said content considered for promotion is subject to eligibility and safety standards, and that the more consistently a streamer reviews and curates their “Stream Recaps,” the more content is available for consideration. The company also said community signals, meaning how viewers engage with clips on Twitch, help surface clips that are resonating, alongside other unspecified factors.
Twitch described the Partners-only rollout as an initial phase to “learn and develop the program,” and said opportunities could be open to Affiliates in the future. The company did not name its distribution partners.
What Comes Next
Twitch said “Recaps Spotlight” is the first program in a broader investment in promoting streamer clips, including beyond its own platform. It is exploring extending clip promotion into major game launches, tentpole events, and other moments where communities are producing content at scale.
“Stream Recaps,” introduced October 20, give viewers a way to catch up on missed streams through clips, placed at the top of their mobile feed.
The launch follows Twitch’s August decision to open its brand sponsorship program to all affiliates globally, after limited tests with two Minecraft-branded campaigns in which more than half of paid participants were Affiliates. Like that expansion, “Recaps Spotlight” begins with a narrower group than Twitch says it intends to reach eventually.
