Johnny Knoxville’s beloved television show is expanding with a brand new spin-off. The announcement comes months after Fox renewed the reality competition series for a second season.
Fear Factor: House of Fear is being adapted into a scripted vertical microdrama. Fox Entertainment Studios has reportedly partnered with Endemol Shine North America on the adaptation. The microseries will stream on My Drama, Holywater Tech’s vertical-video platform. Fox holds an equity stake in Holywater.
Fox says the project will mark the first time a television unscripted franchise has been adapted into a scripted microdrama. It will also be My Drama’s first horror series.
Fox previously renewed Fear Factor: House of Fear for a second season. The renewal came less than a month after the Season 1 finale saw Ethan Macmillan, a 20-year-old emergency dispatcher from Toronto, win the $200,000 prize money.
The series itself is a spin-off of the Y2K’s iconic dare game show Fear Factor, hosted by Joe Rogan.
