A developer has published a software-only jailbreak for the Nintendo Switch 2. Called “ns2jb,” the exploit works on Switch 2 firmware 23.0.1, allowing users to run homebrew software and modify Mario Kart World.
The exploit begins with SmileBASIC 4, a Switch 1 game that works on Switch 2 OpenAI’s Codex helped find a 32-bit integer overflow in the game’s BASIC interpreter. This exact flaw gives the exploit an initial ability to read and write memory. A second buffer overflow gives the exploit more power, letting it change how programs load and run a different executable
The jailbreak is temporary and goes away when you restart or turn off the device. When you power the Switch 2 back on, you have to repeat everything on a computer on the same network. It also doesn’t provide full kernel access or allow you to install custom firmware.
Nintendo hasn’t publicly acknowledged the exploit, but Nintendo Life <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/<a href="https://comicvibe.com/anime-adventures-codes-for-october-2026/” title=”Anime Adventures codes for October 2026″>2026/10/switch-2-supposedly-jailbroken-via-software-only-exploit” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>reports that Nintendo removed SmileBASIC 4 from the eShop after the jailbreak surfaced. A future firmware update could close the flaws Pepsipu exploited, so we don’t expect to see Peter Griffin or Hatsune Miku on the track for very long.
