In its third season, Nobody Wants This continued to tell the love story of Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) as they moved in together, got engaged, and in the finale — don’t tell their parents — tied the knot. But all the while, as they navigated a maturing relationship, there was another triangle that stole some of the spotlight.
With Esther (Jackie Tohn) asking Sasha (Timonthy Simons) for a bit of separation to figure out what she wants, Sasha found himself connecting with Joanne’s sister, Morgan (Justine Lupe). And thanks to a well-timed trip to New York City, the two of them ended up sleeping together.
The twist? Sasha later slept with Esther, who’d previously been seeing a new guy. Because, you know, life’s complicated.
So … what now? Well, it depends which of the Nobody Wants Thiscast members you ask.

“I’m rooting for [Sasha and Morgan] to love each other and experience each other and have a very positive lifelong relationship. Is that romantic? I don’t know,” Adam Brody tells Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know if I want that yet. That’s more complicated because there’s a strong part of me that also wants Esther and Sasha to fall back deeply in love.”
Kristen Bell chimes in, adding, “It’s complicated because Miriam is involved, for sure. If Miriam wasn’t involved, maybe my take would be different, but I do hope that Sasha and Morgan learn from each other and realize that sometimes those deep, deep friendships can be worth even more in the long run than a romantic fling. But I feel like if the possibility still exists to mend the family for the sake of having kids, that would probably be my vote.”
Naturally, Jackie Tohn is rooting for Sasha and Esther. “I think they should be together, I think she has grown and learned. What would be really devastating is if she ends up like, ‘I have done the self work and asked myself all these questions and it turns out, how lucky, this person that I already had is the person I would’ve chosen if I’d asked myself the questions, but now he’s gone.’ I’m not saying I want that to happen, but I think that is a very possible place that Esther can go.
Timothy Simons takes a much more vague stance simply saying that, “I think it’s cool when weirdos find each other,” while Justine Lupe is simply feeling … flexible. “I feel excited about the idea of playing it out a bit more, I feel excited by the idea of Morgan learning something,” Lupe says. “I feel like each season she’s stepping closer to understanding the reality of what she’s looking for so I’m kind of curious to see how that plays out, whether it’s with Sasha or someone else.”

One thing all three of the involved actors can agree on? Brody’s idea — “I think Morgan should have Sasha’s baby, but he gets back with [Esther]” — is bad.
As Simons says, “[The] characters are all maturing in different ways. It could be none of them are together but they’ve all found an emerging maturity.”
Lupe sums it up by adding, “It’s not played out yet. There’s more to mine. I don’t think that the story is over.”
Nobody Wants This is streaming now on Netflix.
