CJ Olive Young is targeting domestic and foreign fandom by introducing new content that combines K-pop and live commerce.
CJ Olive Young announced on the 21st that it will launch a new all-young live program ‘Green Room’, which combines music talk shows and live commerce.
Green Room is Olive Young’s first K-pop-linked live commerce program. Under the concept of an artist’s waiting room, an idol host invites a recently made comeback singer to introduce a new album and the behind-the-scenes story of his activities. Viewers can communicate with artists in real-time during the broadcast and purchase albums that include Olive Young’s exclusive purchase perks.
The broadcasts are “All Young Live” and YouTube channel “All Young TV” in Korea, and “O” in Japan’s Global Mall. It’s being broadcast simultaneously on Y LIVE. It also provides real-time translation services for Japanese viewers.
Olive Young’s efforts to strengthen K-pop contents are in line with the growth of album sales. Since Olive Young began selling K-pop albums at global malls in 2022, it has expanded its sales channels to domestic online malls, offline stores, and pop-up stores. Sales in the album category increased 152% year-on-year from January to September this year.
Seo Eun-kwang of the group BTOB will be the host of the first broadcast at 8 p.m. on this day. Four members of NMIXX, Lily, Seol-yoon, Baei, and Kyu-jin, who came back with their sixth mini-album “Strange Muse” on the 19th, will appear. In addition to the new song’s listening session, NMIX’s live performance will also be presented on the show.
In commemoration of the first broadcast, purchase benefits and fan-participating events were also prepared. Customers who purchase and certify albums during the broadcast will be given limited photos, autographed albums, and Olive Young gift cards through a lottery. All buyers will be refunded the amount corresponding to the shipping fee with olive points.
There will also be a “reverse tribute event” in which viewers participate in the game with artists. Olive Young’s major K-beauty brand products will be offered to those selected by lottery among participating customers. Such purchase privileges and fan-participating events will continue in future broadcasts.
Olive Young plans to conduct two pilot broadcasts this year, then organize a green room regularly and operate it on a seasonal basis starting next year. By diversifying the artists and contents, it plans to expand the contact point with K-pop fandom at home and abroad.
An Olive Young official said, “We expect All Young Live to become a platform that customers enjoy beyond simple sales channels,” adding, “We will continue to introduce content that connects various K cultures through K-beauty.”
Meanwhile, Olive Young has been diversifying its broadcasting contents since its introduction of All Young Live in 2019. In 2024, it opened a live-only studio and introduced “Partner Live” where entry brands can plan and host broadcasts themselves.
