TheBurntPeanut has responded to criticism of his Streamer Awards nomination by unveiling a joke redesign of his peanut avatar.
The streamer, who appears onscreen as an animated peanut with human eyes and a mouth, won Best VTuber at the 2025 Streamer Awards. His victory divided viewers, with critics questioning why someone who had distanced himself from the VTuber label was competing in the category.
That debate returned after the awards announced its 2026 nominees on October 16. Peanut is nominated alongside Ironmouse, Koseki Bijou, Crelly, and Gigi Murin, prompting renewed calls for him to step aside.

In a clip from his October 17 stream, Peanut addressed the reaction to his nomination before presenting an edited image of his character with long orange hair and an exaggerated chest.

Explaining the joke redesign, Peanut said, “A lot of people were outraged at me for not looking like them… I want unity! I want to bring us together.”
The reveal turned his response into a joke makeover, with the streamer also saying the changes would include a BBL.
“And hopefully then, and only then, will I be accepted,” he said.
Several of the posts criticizing his nomination focused on his previous comments about VTubers and his relationship with the community.
X user sillycircusbaby acknowledged that Peanut was a successful creator who deserved recognition, but asked whether he would consider withdrawing from Best VTuber or declining to participate next year.
They argued that his past remarks were discouraging to creators who identify with the community, writing: “you’ve made it clear on multiple occasions that you don’t consider yourself a vtuber.”
