Shohei Ohtani Market Continuing to Crash? 1/1 3-Logoman Collectible Sells for Much Less Than $1 Million

Shohei Ohtani put up a .192 batting average, 1 home run, and 3 RBIs over 8 games in this year’s postseason. Despite his 3-run home run against the Brewers in Game 4, the Dodgers were swept in the NLCS, partly due to Ohtani’s poor showing.

His lackluster performances have led to a cooling off in the market for his sports trading cards. Collectors online are puzzled by both the nature of his play and the sudden and subsequent drop in the value of his cards.

One card that recently sold has further solidified the theory.

The 2025 Topps MVP Collection Triple Relic FoilFractor #TF-1 Shohei Ohtani NLCS Game 4 Game-Used MLB Logoman Relic Card (#1/1) sold for merely $366,000 on Goldin, following a 22% buyer’s premium.

While this is quite a large sum of money by any stretch of the imagination, the story behind it should have added more value to it.

It is a card commemorating his generational performance in Game 4 of the 2025 NLCS, in which he hit three homers and pitched six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and merely two hits. A two-way performance for the ages, it also features three game-used Logoman relics from bases one, two, and three.

This collectible was expected to go for more than just $366k, and it could’ve easily crossed the $1 million mark.

What Other Shohei Ohtani Cards Have Dipped In Value?

It isn’t just the aforementioned Ohtani collectible that has underperformed. The PSA 9 2018 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autographs Shohei Ohtani, for example, sold for just $48.8K on Goldin.

This last sold for $75.2k in July, resulting in a $26.4k dip over about three months.

It isn’t just cards inching toward the six-figure mark that have lost value. A collector claims their 2018 Bowman Shohei Ohtani, graded BGS 9.5, recently dropped from $500 to nearly $300.

Another card that has lost a reported 25% in value is his Gem Mint PSA 10 Bowman Chrome Rookie, which is down to about $4,100, and the Gem Mint 10 2018 Topps Chrome Ohtani, which is down nearly 30% and is sitting at about $1,060.

It isn’t all doom and despair for Ohtani card fans and collectors, however.

The 2026 Topps Chrome Ultraviolet SuperFractor Shohei Ohtani 1/1 just sold on Goldin for $329.4K. This is the most expensive Ultra Violet card that has ever sold at a public auction.

The previous record was held by the Jalen Brunson 2025-26 Topps Chrome 1/1 Ultra Violet SuperFractor that sold for $102k this past June.

So, while the market does seem to be on a steady decline for Ohtani, it should be noted that the collectibles industry is incredibly dynamic. A card/entity that was not worth a whole lot on a random Thursday will break a record that same weekend.

So, for all the Ohtani fans out there, don’t stress all too much. The 4x MLB MVP will bounce back, and when he does, buying his cards at a low price will pay off.
