A $17 million indoor baseball, restaurant and entertainment space planned near The Rim is still in the hole, more than two years after announcing plans to open its first San Antonio location.
Home Run Dugout was set to complete construction on a 200,000-square-foot venue (previous MySA reporting shows plans for a roughly 65,000 square-foot facility) on December 19, 2025, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The baseball-themed entertainment venue would have brought a new and exciting way for families to play baseball with one another, as plans for the venue included virtual batting bays and augmented reality gameplay.

Construction crews appear to have leveled the site in preparation for the $17 million development, but there are no signs of progress for the exciting indoor virtual baseball business that made waves after the initial 2024 announcement. On a recent visit, MySA found what appeared to be an empty gravel lot across the street from an Embassy Suites hotel.
Plans for the San Antonio location included more than 30 swanky batting bays, an outdoor wiffle ball field, and drinking and dining options that included a biergarten and full-service restaurant and bars.

Almost one year after the construction deadline passed, there is little evidence that the baseball park is still under construction. MySA reached out to a company representative several times this week to learn more about the development’s latest status. A response was not received before publication time.
Home Run Dugout opened its first full-scale location near Houston in Katy in March 2023.
