The growing circulation of degrading images, graphic <a href="https://comicvibe.com/daisy-edgar-jones-has-played-so-many-video-games-but-why/” title=”Daisy Edgar-Jones has played 'so many video games', but why?”>videos and abusive attacks on social media is drawing concern from Minister for Policing and Communications Ioane Naivalurua.
He warns that online cruelty can have lasting consequences for victims and their families.
Naivalurua says people are increasingly treating another person’s humiliation and suffering as entertainment, with little thought for the damage caused by posting or sharing such content.
He warns that deleting a post does not erase the harm, as humiliating material can continue to affect a person’s dignity, family relationships and standing in the community.

Naivalurua says the right to criticise or disagree does not give anyone the freedom to threaten, harass or engage in unlawful conduct without consequences.
He is calling on social media users to stop circulating intimate or degrading images, publishing material intended to shame others, and fuelling abuse through comments and shares.
Naivalurua says respect, dignity, veidokai and veilomani must apply online just as they do in everyday life.
He adds that parents, teachers and community leaders also have a responsibility to challenge harmful online behaviour and promote accountability.
People experiencing serious online harm are urged to seek assistance from the Online Safety Commission or report suspected criminal conduct to Fiji Police
