Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo
Dodgers’ Recent Run Called the Golden Era of the Franchise
The past decade was described as the greatest era of Dodgers baseball, extending back through the franchise’s years in Brooklyn. The team’s sustained success, exceptional play and strong fan support were cited as reasons this period stands above previous eras.
Dodger Stadium regularly draws crowds of 40,000 to 50,000, while Dodgers merchandise can be seen throughout Los Angeles. That popularity also extends to Japan, where Ohtani, Yamamoto and Sasaki jerseys are common. Dodgers apparel was said to be even more visible in some areas of Tokyo than Tokyo Giants merchandise, with dedicated Dodgers stores further demonstrating the team’s reach.
When all those pieces are considered together, the past 10 years represent the golden era of Dodgers baseball.
Dave Roberts was also credited for guiding the team through this period. His managerial record, including his wins, losses and repeated trips to the World Series, was described as matching or surpassing the work of many managers already in the Hall of Fame.
Roberts was a good role player during his playing career, but his accomplishments as a manager were presented as the foundation of his Hall of Fame case. Reaching the World Series multiple times is a major achievement, and winning three championships was cited as further support for his place among the game’s notable managers.
