ABU DHABI: Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC), the region’s largest pop culture festival, sold out tickets for all three days of its latest edition, held from Sept. 11 to 13 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi.
The 14th edition of MEFCC attracted more than 60,000 visitors over three days, featuring a range of activities, including cosplay catwalks, workshops, discussion panels, meet-and-greet sessions with stars, and <a href="https://comicvibe.com/batman-goes-shirtless-for-exclusive-mcfarlane-toys-dc-multiverse-set/” title=”Batman Goes Shirtless for Exclusive McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Set”>exclusive merchandise and collectibles from exhibitors and vendors.
The MEFCC Cosplay Competition brought together some of the region’s leading cosplayers for a contest featuring an AED 60,000 prize pool. The winning UAE team also earned the opportunity to represent the country at the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) 2027 finals in Nagoya, Japan.
One of this year’s highlights was Crunchyroll’s first major presence at the event. Its dedicated booth featured official merchandise, giveaways and interactive activations. Crunchyroll also sponsored the Otaku District area, which hosted live music, J-pop and J-rock covers, random play dances, karaoke, dance performances, choreography workshops, fandom quizzes, Janken battles and other activities throughout the day.
Major exhibitors also drew visitors with exclusive merchandise and collectibles. Comicave presented a lineup of collectibles from SEGA, Bandai Tamashii Nations and other brands, alongside limited-edition merchandise and new brand launches from Legendary Beast Studios and Funism.
The Little Things (TLT) returned to MEFCC with exclusive and limited-edition collectibles, new trading card game experiences and major collaborations. The company also sponsored Cosplay Central and joined Crunchyroll as a retail partner, contributing anime collectible displays and a curated selection of merchandise available for purchase at the Crunchyroll booth.
Fans also had the opportunity to meet their favourite stars, take photographs and obtain autographs from celebrities, including John Cena, Mackenyu, Joonas Suotamo, Arden Cho, Pom Klementieff, Jacob Romero Gibson and Charithra Chandran.
Loy Pinheiro, show director of Middle East Film & Comic Con, said: “We have been truly thrilled by the huge positive response from the fans as the tickets for VIP, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and 3-Day Passes were sold out before the opening of 1st day of MEFCC 2026, which is a remarkable momentum for us as the region’s largest and most celebrated pop culture festival and pushing us to bring the best experiences for all pop culture fans in the region.”
The next edition of Middle East Film & Comic Con will take place from April 2 to 4, 2027, at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.
