Roblox Corp (NYSE:RBLX), the online gaming platform, recorded a modest weekly recovery in player activity, although year-on-year declines in concurrent users widened as comparisons with last year became tougher.
Wedbush said weekly concurrent users (CCUs), which measure players online simultaneously, rose to 15.2 million from 14.8 million, while its proxy for daily active users (DAUs) increased to 44.6 million.
The CCU decline widened to 18% year-on-year from 14% the previous week, while estimated DAU growth remained down 14% for a third consecutive week.
The broker attributed the deterioration in the CCU growth rate largely to the comparison with last year, saying the previous week’s decline had benefited from a weaker year-earlier figure.
The latest 18% decline was broadly in line with the 17% to 19% annual contraction recorded since early September, suggesting the headline deterioration did not reflect a fresh slowdown in underlying engagement.
However, the absolute increase in weekly CCUs and the recovery in estimated DAUs after three weeks of declines point to a modest bounce from recent lows rather than a decisive change in momentum.
Weekend activity remains a particular weakness, with Saturday concurrent users reaching about 27 million compared with 37 million a year earlier, highlighting the gap in peak engagement.
Steal An Egg remained the platform’s most popular experience, although Wedbush suspects its core audience skews young and generates relatively little revenue per user, potentially limiting its contribution to monetisation.
The latest figures, therefore, offer some evidence of stabilisation in player activity, but persistent annual declines and weaker weekend peaks suggest Roblox has yet to demonstrate a sustained recovery in engagement.
