In the months following Dolly Parton‘s death from cancer at 80, several of her properties have been put on the market. Many of the homes are still for sale, but on October 13, TMZ reported that Parton’s former cottage in Solvang, Calif., has officially sold.
According to the outlet, the house was sold for $1,945,150. The new owners have requested to stay anonymous.
Parton acquired the home in 2004 and sold it 10 years later for approximately $940,000. TMZ claimed that Parton “used the 1920s-era home as a cute little getaway.”
It was last sold in 2022 for around $1.367 million, and the owner at the time, Crisp Lapp, listed it for sale in May 2026. He spoke with The New York Timesin September and said he “received numerous inquiries, though no acceptable offers.”
The purchase comes after the “9 to 5” singer’s alleged real cause of death was revealed by her driver, Jason Pirro. In early September, he spoke with In Touchabout Parton, stating that she was just never the same after her longtime husband Carl Thomas Dean’s death in March 2025.
Pirro told the outlet that it was a “bad time” for Parton, explaining, “She didn’t say much, but she sometimes talked about how much she missed him so much. She didn’t want to make a big deal about it because she knew that I knew how she was affected by it.”
He went on to suggest that Parton “died of a broken heart,” but claimed the country music icon kept that a secret “because she didn’t want people feeling sorry for her.”
“In a way, I think she was looking forward to passing…It’s sad, but they had a good life together,” Pirro concluded. “The way their relationship was, she knew that they were going to be in heaven forever. I didn’t think it would be that soon, but it was.”
