Keeping Daredevil on screen may take more than fan campaigns and trending hashtags. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaumhas urged supporters to watch Daredevil: Born Again if they want to show their support for the franchise.
Speaking on The Brandon Davis Show, Winderbaum discussed how fan movements have changed in recent years. He acknowledged the impact of the #SaveDaredevil campaign and explained why online support alone may not be enough to influence future decisions.
He said, “It’s a huge movement. You know, it’s interesting, the internet. It’s not what it used to be when, even a few years ago, when you could stage a campaign and get something made like that.”
Brad Winderbaum points to viewership as the key to making more shows
Winderbaum stressed that studio renewals ultimately hinge on viewership numbers rather than social media campaigns.
He said, “Like #SaveDaredevil’s great, but we also need hashtag #WatchDaredevil. The biggest leverage I have, and I say this all the time, is the actual viewership numbers. You know, that’s what people are looking for. That’s where I get my power to be able to make something or not. And I just want people to, you know, to watch the show.”
His comments came during a discussion about Wonder Man, which Marvel decided not to continue despite previously announcing a second season. Winderbaum said he had fought for the show and still hoped its characters could return.
Meanwhile, Daredevil: Born Again arrived after years of fan campaigning following Netflix’s cancellation of the original series in 2018. The revival brought Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
Following a successful first season in early 2025, Marvel officially renewed the series for a third season in September 2025, well ahead of the Season 2 premiere on Disney+ in March 2026. Marvel also confirmed that the show’s third season, slated for 2027, will serve as its final season.
