Nintendo has released Mario Kart 8 update 4.0.1 on October 13, and this delivers a short list of fixes to the racing game.
Most notable of the fixes is the difference in the number of obstacles during Online Play for Switch 2 players, which are more compared to OG Switch. Mind, this is the first time I’ve heard of an online game having a different experience than another platform, and it’s not technical-related.
Read on for the other fixes applied for today too.
Mario Kart 8 Item Boxes and Obstacles Issues Fixed in October Update
General
- Fixed an issue where the number of obstacles or Item Boxes would increase during Online Play and Wireless Play on Nintendo Switch 2 compared to Nintendo Switch.
- Fixed an issue where players could not select a user who is registered to the system when playing with two players for Online Play and Wireless Play.
- Fixed an issue where some of the Star Bits would not be displayed when driving on Wii Rainbow Road on Nintendo Switch 2.
- Fixed an issue where the game would close unexpectedly when certain conditions were fulfilled.
Today’s patch goes hand-in-hand with last month’s, which added support for Switch 2 docking the game for better visuals.
