    What you need to know

GTA 6’s PC port is expected to be accelerated and release months after the console version

It took 19 months for Rockstar to bring GTA 5 to PC, but new reports indicate that PC gamers will only have to wait around 4 months for GTA 6 to come to PC.

Fourill release on PC sometime in calendar Q1 2027 (that release window runs from January – March of next year)

Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive have responded to the claims. Publisher CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly underlined the importance of the PC platform, saying in November 2025 that he believed the industry was “moving towards PC and business is moving towards open rather than closed.”

We may not actually get info on this topic until GTA 6 releases on consoles, for obvious reasons–users could just cancel their pre-order and wait for the PC version. That’s not great for Rockstar and Take-Two, who need to cash in on this massive (rumored) $2 billion+ project.

Launching the PC version in calendar Q1’27 could give a substantial uplift to Take-Two’s fiscal year earnings; the calendar Q1 period corresponds with TTWO’s fiscal Q4. Even if GTA 6’s PC port wasn’t recognized in Take-Two’s fiscal year results, such a megaton game would help kickstart its next fiscal year with a big cash influx.

What factors have been reported behind the shorter gap between GTA 6’s console and PC releases?

“GTA 6 PC release to come faster than most expect, and we can thank rising hardware prices” points to rising hardware prices and suggests Rockstar may want to capitalize on its established PC audience. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also emphasized the growing importance of PC, while an early 2027 PC launch could boost Take-Two’s earnings. These are reported factors and potential incentives, not a confirmed explanation from Rockstar.

How could a GTA 6 PC launch in calendar Q1 2027 affect Take-Two’s fiscal Q4 results?

A GTA 6 PC launch between January and March 2027 could substantially lift Take-Two’s fiscal Q4 results, because that calendar quarter corresponds to its fiscal Q4. The launch window is a report, not a confirmed plan, and the story notes that the PC release might not be recognized in that fiscal year’s results.

What has Strauss Zelnick said about PC gaming that may inform Take-Two’s GTA 6 release strategy?

How might a shorter wait for GTA 6 on PC affect console preorders?

GTA 6 is expected to be the biggest entertainment launch of all time; however, it won’t touch two of gaming’s biggest platforms when it launches in November: PC, which could be taken over by World of Warcraft Forever’s November 4th launch, and the Switch 2, whose gamers will undoubtedly be playing the new Zelda Ocarina of Time remake.
