God of War Laufey Collector’s Edition Comes With a Big Catch

God of War Laufey has finally opened its Collector Box pre-orders for fans, but there’s a catch. The game itself is a standalone action-adventure title developed by Santa Monica Studio and scheduled for release on February 16, 2027, for the PlayStation 5

The Collector Box contains a light-up resin statue of Faye, capturing her lethal agility in action. It’s accompanied by a 51-card Oracle Deck with stunning bespoke illustrations, each card featuring meaning inspired by Faye’s journey, and a Mini Artbook curated by the development team, featuring concept art of the characters, creatures, and environments of God of War Laufey.

The God of War Laufey – Collector Box will be available in highly limited quantities, exclusively direct from PlayStation (where available), on February 16, 2027. Its recommended retail price is $149.99 USD / €149.99 / £129.99. The pre-orders begin today, October 13, 2026, at 10:00 am local time.

What is the catch with the God of War Laufey Collector’s Edition?

Sony has officially announced the God of War Laufey – Collector Box, but the catch is that it doesn’t include a physical copy of the game or a digital download code. It wasn’t announced before, but it started appearing online on PS Direct today, as the Collector’s Edition box states, “God of War Laufey game sold separately.”

This means that fans will have to purchase the game separately as the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition, either by pre-ordering it or buying it after it launches in February next year. In this installment from the world of God of War, players will play as Laufey, aka Faye, a powerful Jötunn (Giant) warrior, rebel leader against the Æsir gods, Kratos’s wife, and Atreus’s mother.

Laufey’s story begins right after Faye’s death in the Norse saga. Instead of the end, she unexpectedly wakes up in the Everywhen—a transcendent afterlife realm where magic originates and gods from multiple mythologies clash for power. In this one, Faye fights to protect the plans she left behind to keep Kratos and Atreus safe.

Fans can now pre-order both the God of War Laufey video game for PS5 and the God of War Laufey Collector Box.
