The best gaming laptop CPU and GPU pairing is a rarity even in the most top-end machines, but GIGABYTE thought differently when launching its AORUS MASTER 16 Gen 2, as both of its premium variants are equipped with parts designed to maximize framerates and deliver performance that you’ve never fathomed before. With the AMD Ryzen 9 9950HX3D, you get the option to pair the CPU with either an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080.
The AORUS MASTER 16 Gen 2 family comes with a crisp 16-inch OLED that’ll make you forget about traditional displays
As for why the Ryzen 9 9950HX3D was chosen in GIGABYTE’s high-end gaming laptops, not only does the boast sport 16 cores, a boost clock of up to 5.40GHz, and a 140W TDP, but it also packs a whopping 128MB of L3 cache through AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology that’s tailor-made to churn out those framerates like there’s no tomorrow. With the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, which feature 24GB and 16GB of GDDR7 video memory, respectively, you’re able to obtain maximum performance in your favorite games without worrying about a performance dip.

To tame both the CPU and GPU, GIGABYTE has employed its WINDFORCE Infinity EX cooling, which is rated for up to 230W of total thermal power. It uses dual Frost Fan 2.0 units with 160 asymmetric blades that are 40 percent thinner than the previous generation, plus a lateral housing and acoustic diffusers to cut noise. Transferring all of that heat is a vapor chamber with up to 50 percent more coverage, 0.075mm ultra-thin fins, and 3D VortX air channeling through four exhaust outlets to dissipate that heat effectively.
Coming to the display, the AORUS MASTER Gen 2 lineup uses a 16-inch OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. You can enjoy fast-paced gaming with a 240Hz refresh rate and response time of up to 0.2ms. The panel also offers a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 100 percent of the DCI-P3 colors, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. On the inside, you get two SODIMM memory slots that support up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, with storage slots including one PCIe NVMe Gen 5 and one Gen 4 SSD.

Keeping the lights on is a massive 99Whr battery that supports PD 3.0 and charges to 50 percent in 30 minutes in AC mode. Wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi 7 offer speeds of up to 46Gbps, and the FHD 1080p IR webcam supports Windows Hello. As for the port selection, the left side has a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, another USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with DisplayPort 2.0 and Power Delivery 3.0, a microSD reader, and a 3.5mm combo jack.
The right side adds the power connector, RJ-45, HDMI 2.1, another USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, and a USB4 Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. We expect the majority of users to plug in their headphones or earphones, but for the small percentage of people that won’t, GIGABYTE has employed four speakers in a dual-force design with Smart AMP, which the company states delivers 1.58x louder volume, 1.58x deeper bass, and 1.67x more dynamic range.

The RTX 5090 configuration with a 2TB SSD and 32GB of DDR5 memory is currently going for $4,799.99 on Amazon, whereas the RTX 5080-powered variant can be yours for $3,399.99. While you get half the storage of the RTX 5090 model, you still get 32GB of DDR5 memory.
