Even the Red Comet needs a nap sometimes, right?
In keeping with its core premise of mecha as military hardware, Mobile Suit Gundam features a vast array of robots with specialized purposes for specific types of terrain and tactics. For example, within the anime, the Z’Gok has a singularly focused role as an amphibious assault mecha.
Here in the real world, though, the Z’Gok is going to be serving two purposes: light cosplay, and cozy relaxation.
Starting things off is the Z’Gok Arm Cushion, a plush glove that covers a good part of your forearm and gives you the mobile suit’s tri-pronged claw.
While the dynamic-looking design is great for dramatic posing and gesturing…
…its most practical capabilities come into play when you get sleepy, since it’s also a cushion that can be used like a pillow for napping at a desk.
The crimson color of the cushion designates this as the Char-custom version of the Z’Gok, piloted by the ace of the Zeon forces, Char Aznable. With Char’s enhanced abilities allowing him to draw out far more of a mobile suit’s potential than an ordinary pilot ever could, his personal-use machines are often tuned to produce triple the performance of the standard model in terms of speed and maneuverability, so it’s a change of pace to see the Red Comet’s customized tuning applied to relaxation.
Meanwhile, if you’re in the mood for a more conventional cushion that still looks like an anime robot, there’s also aZ’Gok Head Cushion (as in, a cushion shaped like the Z’Gok’s head).
Once again, this features the iconic color of the Char-custom variant, this time applied to a circular cushion that measures 30 centimeters (11.8 inches) across.
▼ The mono-eye design also creates an intimidating aura that will hopefully prevent anyone from stealing your seat while you’re away.
Preorders are open now for both the Char-Custom Z’Gok Arm and Head Cushions (priced at 8,250 and 7,700 yen [US$52 and US$48]) through the Premium Bandai website here and here, with shipping scheduled for February.
