Magneto’s past, present, and future are about to collide in a new prestige series from Marvel Comics. After announcing Magneto: End of Days at New York Comic Con 2026 earlier today, Marvel shared additional details and new covers not shown during the House of Ideas panel.
Launching in February 2027, the eight-issue series reunites writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Andrea Sorrentino, who previously collaborated on Old Man Logan. Acclaimed colorist Dave Stewart joins the creative team for a sweeping exploration of Magneto’s life and legacy.
The series will move through different eras of Magneto’s history, with each issue examining a distinct point in his life. From pivotal moments in his past to a near future shaped by his decisions, Magneto: End of Days promises a fresh perspective on one of Marvel’s most complicated characters.
Magneto has spent more than six decades occupying different roles in the Marvel Universe, from supervillain and terrorist to revolutionary leader and hero. The new series will examine those contradictions while exploring how his choices have shaped the X-Men and the wider Marvel Universe.
“Magneto is one of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s best creations. I’ve been able to write this character over the years in books like House of M, Avengers Vs. X-Men, and Uncanny X-Men, and I’ve loved every second of it,” Bendis said.
“This time, we’re going to delve into his world in very curated, unique chapters from every era of the Marvel Universe. And I’m reuniting with some my favorite comic creators—Andrea and Dave together is a special event in itself, and Tom Brevoort is responsible for some of my best moments at Marvel. We’ve been working on this book for many months and it’s just beautiful.”
Sorrentino also discussed the challenge of bringing his artistic approach to such an established character.
“Working on such an iconic character like Magneto, with all that he represents for Marvel history, has been both an exciting and an intimidating challenge,” Sorrentino said.
The artist explained that the character’s history has encouraged him to experiment with page layouts and explore new ways of depicting Magneto’s abilities and personality.
“I’m so excited to work with Brian on another series after our time together on Old Man Logan and I can’t wait for readers to see what Brian, Dave and myself have been working on these last few months.”
Alongside the new information, Marvel has revealed additional cover artwork for the debut issue, including variants by Alex Maleev, Jerome Opeña, and Netho Diaz, joining Sorrentino’s main cover. These newly released covers offer fans more to examine following the initial NYCC reveal, alongside interior artwork from the upcoming series.
The announcement also comes ahead of Magneto’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday this December, giving readers another opportunity to explore the character’s history as he returns to the big screen.
