The God of War series is about to return on PlayStation 5 this coming February with God of War Laufey, yet PC players won’t be able to experience the new entry in the series anytime soon, if ever, in an official capacity due to PlayStation pivoting away from releasing its first-party single-player games to Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, Kratos has unexpectedly returned to PC today with an unofficial port of the final entry in the Greek saga.
The unofficial port of God of War 3 Remastered was developed by Felipe Prado using Claude Opus 5.5 as a coding assistant, and is fully playable from start to finish, although some issues are expected, including textures breaking at resolutions higher than 1080p.
“The game’s original executable runs directly on the PC’s processor (the PS4 uses the same x86-64 architecture),” reads the project’s official description on GitHub, where it can also be downloaded. “A runtime written for this game replaces the PS4 system libraries, and the graphics are translated to Vulkan. It is not a general emulator: the project serves one game.” As such, this project’s scope is similar to the unofficial Bloodborne PC port released last week.
Besides delivering support for 480p, 720p, 1440p, 1800p or 4K resolution and 120 and 240 FPS support, the unofficial God of War 3 Remastered port also delivers additional features with a new in-game menu. These include cheats for infinite health, magic, Rage of Sparta, multipliers for orbs, an enemy health bar, display mode options (windowed, borderless, fullscreen), a VSync toggle, FSR 1 upscaling and RCAS sharpening, and performance options with an overlay.

As the final entry in the Greek saga, Santa Monica Studio went all in on the character-action gameplay that had defined the series up to that point, delivering an unrelenting experience that many still regard as the series’ high point. Given how the series has moved into a different direction following 2018’s God of War, it will be very interesting to see how theGod of War Trilogy Remake will handle this type of gameplay, which has evolved quite a bit since the days Kratos was busy decimating the Greek pantheon.
