MONDAY
Always Lalisa, Cinemas Nationwide
LISA of BLACKPINK gets the documentary treatment in this intimate film, which follows the global superstar through a pivotal year as she steps away from the group and begins carving out her own path. From making her solo album Alter Ego to her acting debut in The White Lotus and her first major solo performance at Coachella, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build a career – and identity – beyond one of the world’s biggest girl groups. Expect plenty of music, glamour and an unusually personal look at the woman behind the pop-star persona.
WEDNESDAY
Love Is Blind, Netflix
The pods are heading to Boston for the latest instalment of Netflix’s addictive dating experiment. Now in its eleventh season, this time 30 singles are hoping to find love without ever seeing each other, before getting engaged, meeting in person and attempting to make their relationships work in the real world. With Nick and Vanessa Lachey back to oversee proceedings, expect plenty of emotional declarations, questionable decisions and wedding-day drama. The first five episodes land on 14th October, with new episodes following weekly.

VisionQuest, Disney+
The Marvel universe gets another chapter with VisionQuest, the final part of the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, who has been keeping a low profile while trying to work out exactly who – and what – he is. That all changes when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be connected to his past. There’s also the small matter of Ultron, voiced once again by James Spader.
THURSDAY
Hollywood Arts, Paramount+
Gen Z fans of Victorious will recognise the setting – and one very familiar face. This new comedy brings Daniella Monet back as Trina Vega, now returning to her former school as a substitute teacher. The problem? She’s spectacularly unqualified for the job but soon finds herself attempting to inspire a new generation of aspiring performers while navigating the chaos of Hollywood Arts. It’s a nostalgic return to the world of the original Nickelodeon series, with a new cast of students and plenty of room for old-school fans to get invested.

The Diplomat, Netflix
Keri Russell is back as US Ambassador Kate Wyler and after the explosive events of season three, there’s little time for a breather. The new series picks up with Kate attempting to untangle a conspiracy involving her husband Hal and the US President, while her increasingly complicated personal relationships continue to collide with her professional life. Allison Janney also returns as President Grace Penn, with the new season promising more political manoeuvring, international intrigue and the kind of high-stakes drama that has made the series such an easy binge.
FRIDAY
Tenzing, Apple TV+
Tom Hiddleston and Willem Dafoe star in this new drama about Tenzing Norgay, the Sherpa mountaineer who, alongside Edmund Hillary, became the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Rather than simply retelling the famous expedition, the film puts Tenzing at its centre, exploring his spiritual connection to the mountain and the tensions between the British expedition and the Sherpa climber who was so crucial to its success. Directed by Jennifer Peedom, it’s a sweeping adventure with a strong human story at its heart.

Whalefall, Cinemas Nationwide
If being swallowed alive by a whale wasn’t already the stuff of nightmares, this new survival thriller will probably make sure it is. Austin Abrams (The Walking Dead, Euphoria) plays Jay, a young diver who is swallowed by a sperm whale while searching for his late father’s remains off the Californian coast. With just an hour of oxygen left, he has to find a way out while reckoning with the complicated relationship he had with his father. Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue and Emily Rudd also star in what’s shaping up to be one of the week’s more unusual – and claustrophobic – cinema releases.
Winter Of The Crow, Cinemas Nationwide
Set in Poland in 1981, as the country enters the tense early days of martial law, this atmospheric thriller follows an ordinary woman who finds herself caught up in an increasingly dangerous game of cat and mouse. Lesley Manville (The Crown, Phantom Thread) stars in the lead role, with the film inspired by a short story from Nobel and Booker Prize-winning author Olga Tokarczuk. It’s a darker, more cerebral option for anyone after something beyond the usual Friday-night thriller.
