“I didn’t know that would be the last time I would ever see him in person,” Blanchard told PageSix.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is shutting down rumors of a custody battle between her and late ex, Ken Urker.
In private messages exchanged one month before Urker’s Oct. 1 death, the former couplebriefly discussed their decision to handle custody arrangements for daughter Aurora without involving lawyers. Blanchard shared the messages, from a conversation dated Sept 2, with Page Six.
“I will be home Friday evening,” Urker wrote in the first message.
Blanchard replied, “Ok I’ll leave Aurora with you and pick her up on Sunday evening.”
She then told Urker, “I spoke to an attorney about getting that joint custody agreement and he said we would both have to come in and sign it and he can file it and it would be done. It costs 1500 but it’s worth it for peace of mind for us both.”
She added, “Regardless of if we stay together or not it’s essential.”

Urker replied, “There’s no need to involve lawyers unless you’re contesting the agreement. It’s not necessary.”
Expressing some confusion, Blanchard answered, “I thought it wasn’t legal unless it’s through lawyer,” to which Urker replied, “The only reason you would get lawyers involved is if you or I don’t agree to the arrangement we currently have.”
Prior to Urker’s death, he and Blanchard had an on-and-off relationship, briefly dating in 2018 amid her prison sentence for her involvement in her mother’s murder. They got engaged in October 2018, breaking up less than a year later. Blanchard and Urker reconciled in 2024 following her divorce from Ryan Anderson and <a href="https://ew.com/gypsy-rose-blanchard-welcomes-first-child-boyfriend-ken-urker-8767994″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>welcomed daughter Aurora that December.
Amid rumors of strife between the former couple — largely stemming from a conflict between Blanchard and Urker’s sister, Autumn — Blanchard told Page Six that she and Urker were on good terms prior to his death.
She shared that one of their final interactions was on Sept. 22, when she showed up at his house with an unexpected food delivery.
“I decided to surprise him with Burger King,” Blanchard told the outlet. “I pretended to be a DoorDash driver and left his food outside his door.”
The playful text exchange saw her send him a snapshot of the food outside his door with the message, “You may leave me a five star review.”
“Omg ur so crazy lol,” Urker replied, adding, “Even got me a Hershey pie.Thanks.”
Looking back on it now, Blanchard said, “It was such a simple, silly little moment, but one that now means more to me than I could ever put into words. I didn’t know that would be the last time I would ever see him in person.”

She added, “Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that become the most precious memories. I will carry that one with me forever.”
Entertainment Weeklyconfirmed on Oct. 1 that Ken had been found dead at a Raceland, Louisiana, property on his 34th birthday. Following news of Urker’s death, Blanchard told EW’s sister publication PEOPLE that she had sent a text wishing him a happy birthday, but didn’t receive a reply. When he failed to show up for work, a family member requested a welfare check.

Authorities have yet to announce a cause of death for Urker, but Blanchard previously stated that she believes he overdosed.
“I don’t know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately,” she said. “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think.”
Blanchard added that she has “screamed until my throat burns” over Urker’s death.
