“Be More Like CC”: WNBA Fans Praise Caitlin Clark Over Recent Take on Fan Culture

Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark topped the league in assists per game at 8.3, but her comments on threats and crowds on the road have now eclipsed all highlights after point guard Kelsey Mitchell’s fiery exit presser.

In response to Kelsey Mitchell’s season-ending comments, Caitlin Clark differentiated between online threats and the regular road-game atmosphere. This was in regard to her comments on how she deals with fans.

    Caitlin Clark- Fever

“I couldn’t tell you the last time I read a direct message. That doesn’t mean it’s OK for people to send mean ones,”Clark said in her final interview of the season.

She then pointed to opposing crowds as part of the sport’s appeal.

“Golden State booed me every time I touched the ball. That’s what makes the game fun.”

Clark’s calm is impressive because she has been through the storm since 2024, when Fever games have been sold out for home and away. She averaged 22.3 points and 8.3 assists before the Aces defeated Indiana 2-1 on October 1.

Mitchell described this limelight as entirely different at the Fever’s Saturday season-ending press conference.

“Showing up every day to compete for fans that may or may not like you is hard. I don’t think people understand that.”

It was a record-breaking year for Mitchell. She averaged 24.7 points, set the single-season scoring record in the WNBA, and got to hear “M-V-P” chants, but hate in her DMs followed, Mitchell says. At 30, Mitchell becomes an unrestricted free agent.

The way Clark answered became regarded by social media as a lesson in professionalism, and the reaction to it was very supportive. The response to this interview was mostly admiring.

Caitlin Clark’s Calm Response Wins Over a Divided Fanbase

“Be more like CC, block out the noise,” said a fan.

Clark has had to handle heckling and protests against the Fever games since 2024 while averaging 22.3 points per game. The fans interpreted her answer as an example that focus triumphs over distractions.

“She’s an example for every young female athlete,” read another reaction.

Fever games sell out both at home and on the road, and opposing teams usually take those games to larger arenas. Clark keeps all of that while keeping her cool, and it is an example for young players.

A user commented, “That’s why she’s the FACE; she’s not sensitive and unrealistic.”

The Fever teams are among the ones that pull some of the best national television ratings in the league, which helps to explain the “face of the league” title. While some fans drew comparisons between the tone of each player, Mitchell has said that she loves playing with Clark.

Another said, “What a clever way to tell A’ja she’s soft!!”

Aces’ star A’ja Wilson was assessed a technical foul in Game 2 that took place on September 29 for retorting to a fan sitting courtside. The fan returned to his seat after an investigation cleared him of code-of-conduct violations.

One more commenter wrote, “The only adult in the WNBA.”

Fever general manager Amber Cox drew criticism for saying fan toxicity claims had “no basis in reality.” A man was also fired after Aces point guard Chelsea Gray said he sent her a racial slur. Clark openly condemned hateful behavior.

The reaction reveals how rapidly a single measured response turned into a referendum on fan culture.

Now united in one story are Mitchell’s frankness, Wilson’s face-off, and Clark’s composure, and the Fever’s decisions in free agency will decide how it all finishes.
