With 2027 marking the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, you just know it’s going to be a big year for the franchise. We already know there’s a new live-action movie coming out, Star Wars: Starfighter, a re-release of A New Hope, the second season of Ahsoka, a Star Wars Celebration convention, and that’s just the start.
With New York Comic Con in full swing, Lucasfilm took to the stage to reveal a big chunk of what the 50th anniversary means for its publishing division. Specifically, what books and comics are coming out next year to mark the occasion? Well, there are a lot, but below we have just a few of the more notable ones. Head to StarWars.com for even more.
Star Wars: Starfighter

As with any big, new release, Lucasfilm is going all-out with the Starfighter stuff. There will be an Art Of book by Phil Szostak, a visual dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo, a novelization by Delilah Dawson, and a slew of children’s books with very intriguing titles like Rumble with the Rock Pirate, Outer Rim Outcast, and The Rock Pirate of Kaneen. Of course, the covers won’t be revealed until closer to the film’s May release.
The 50th Anniversary

If you want to spend the 50th anniversary of Star Wars looking back at the legacy ofStar Wars, these books have you covered. Star Wars: Celebrating 50 Years of A New Hope by Kristin Baver features “a star-studded lineup of actors, astronauts, athletes, and innovators to trace the seismic shift and resonant impact the original Star Wars film has had on individuals and industries.” There’s also the previously announcedStar Wars: A Celebration by Pablo Hidalgo and Anthony Breznican that chronicles 50 years of Star Wars. Above is a look at the Target exclusive edition of that book.
Star Wars: The Shooting Script

There’s more 50th anniversary stuff too, but we had to point out this incredible reveal. A special edition of the shooting script to the film by George Lucas himself. Having just read through one of these for Back to the Future, the potential is endless.
Star Wars: Ahsoka — Escape From Thrawn #1

Though this was first announced earlier this week, it’s definitely one of the coolest reveals thus far. Dave Filoni co-wrote a 5-comic series that tells the story of what happened to Ezra on Thrawn’s ship as they traveled back from Peredia. The perfect lead-in to Ahsoka season two.
Star Wars: Princess of the Rebellion

Claudia Gray has written some of the best Star Wars novels to come out over the last decade, and her new one is set in a very interesting time. “Princess of the Rebellion” is set between the events of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back as Leia recruits her new friends Luke Skywalker and Han Solo to help her uncover secrets left behind by her father, Bail Organa.
And, again, that’s just a few of the selections. Head here for even more, like a collaboration with Dungeons & Dragons, a manga re-release, a Funko coloring book, and more.
