Still of Nana Patekar’s Le Main Bhi Nacha scene.
Veteran actor Nana Patekar was always known for his intense performances, memorable dialogues and an acting style that was distinctly his own. But beyond the serious roles, he also had a knack for comedy which he proved with the Welcome series.
And thanks to his impeccable comic timing several of his film scenes found a second life as viral memes on social media. One such moment is the popular ‘Le Main Bhi Nacha’ scene from his 2010 film Tum Milo Toh Sahi.
But not many would know that this scene was actually inspired by an incident from Nana Patekar’s own life.
He had himself once revealed this during an interview with Radio City. He explained how an unexpected encounter at a traffic signal eventually became part of the film and now it has gone viral in the era of reels.
Recalling the incident, Nana Patekar then said he was waiting at a traffic signal when a transgender person approached his car, danced for him and asked him for money. The person recognised him as an actor and encouraged him, saying he would go on to do good films.
“The scene actually happened to me once. I was at a signal, and a eunuch came and danced for me. He started asking me for money, saying, ‘Tu hero hai, achhe films karega’ and all. Since it was a signal and all the vehicles were stopped, I came out of my car and danced for him and asked for money.”
