The completed LEGO PlayStation ©INVEN
The ‘LEGO PlayStation,’ produced in collaboration between PlayStation and LEGO, was officially released on October 4 (KST). Thanks to a review unit provided by SIEK, we had the opportunity to build the set ourselves.
Made with a total of 1,911 bricks, the LEGO PlayStation recreates the original PlayStation console and controller, released in 1994, at a 1:1 scale. The console’s Power and Open buttons can actually be pressed, and pressing the Open button opens the disc cover to reveal the inside.
That’s not all. Hidden inside the console are two dioramas featuring Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. The Gran Turismo diorama consists of adorable miniature cars and a micro racing track, while the Ape Escape diorama features a nostalgic island scene complete with monkeys and a banana tree. Both dioramas can be detached from the console and displayed separately.
The package included a total of 14 numbered bags, a sticker sheet, 2 extra accessories, and an instruction booklet, taking about four and a half hours to complete. Despite the finished product having many functional moving parts, there were no overly complex or difficult assembly steps.
Unsurprisingly, the most impressive aspect was its accuracy. From the color scheme and overall shape to the fine details of the controller and console body, virtually every part was crafted to closely resemble the original PlayStation. If you want to relive memories of that era, this set is a fantastic choice.
