While Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is now officially the final season, the show won’t go out (for the second time) without a Defenders reunion.
Months after leaked set photos spoiled some casting, Marvel brought out Finn Jones (Luke Cage), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), and Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock) during the studio’s TV panel at New York Comic Con 2026. They wanted to bring back Mike Colter (Luke Cage), who made his grand return as the bulletproof Hero of Harlem in the Born Again season 2 finale, but they joked he was busy.
The three stars helped tease a larger role for these characters. Though, when moderator Brandon Davis mentioned that Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be the final season, it incited audible boos from the audience. Cox addressed the recent news of the show’s cancellation.
“I imagine the ‘Save Daredevil‘ campaign will be gearing up for round two,” he said, eliciting cheers. “You don’t want to invite the wrath of the Save Daredevil people.”

The trio proceeded to reveal the first teaser for season 3, which sees Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand getting official police badges. “Well, is no one gonna say it?” Jessica says after taking a swig from her flask. “There should be four badges.”
Season 2 of Born Again ended with Matt Murdock outing himself as Daredevil in order to put Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) behind bars. The last time we saw these characters, however, it was Matt behind bars (setting the stage for an adaptation of the Daredevil comic The Devil in Cell-Block D) and Fisk standing on a beach.
The new footage, which was not released online, focused mainly on Matt’s life in prison. He’s wearing a new kind of suit these days that’s decidedly orange.
“I made a choice to pay for my so-called crimes for stopping a madman from turning the city into his own personal kingdom,” Matt says, content to serve his sentence.
However, there’s still plenty of action. The teaser shows Matt tearing apart his orange jumpsuit and then emerging shirtless, wearing his makeshift Daredevil head wrap and cuffs. He then proceeds to beat the crap out of some of the inmates.

Marvel fans were also treated to a quick flash of Fisk screaming his lungs out somewhere, as well as Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter now in his comic book-accurate dark Bullseye costume.
Cox, Ritter, Jones, and Colter all previously headlined their own Marvel series on Netflix, back in the days before Disney+ when the superhero entertainment brand was developing shows for the outside streaming platform. The four heroes crossed over on each other’s respective shows (as well as a Jon Bernthal-led Punisher series) and then teamed up for their own Avengers-style miniseries, The Defenders.

With the arrival of successor series Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, showrunner Dario Scardapane used the show as an opportunity to bring back those familiar characters, including Bernthal’s Frank Castle. Paparazzi photos from the New York City set earlier this year signaled a major Defenders reunion when Colter and Jones were spotted filming season 3 with Ritter.
Marvel leadership repeatedly referred to Daredevil: Born Again as an annually recurring TV drama. However, the studio officially canceled the show last month, while the new season was in the midst of postproduction, suggesting low ratings. Scardapane’s contract was up, and Marvel did not renew it.
