hello world!

2026 has been a banger year for anime so far, with multiple top-tier anime dropping every season. And while we are quickly closing in on the final few months of 2026, the anime world isn’t slowing down, as the Fall 2026 Anime Season is just as packed as the rest of the year. With all the great anime dropping in the next month, it’s a smart idea to have a plan, and that’s where we come in. Here are five of the best anime coming to Crunchyroll this Fall 2026 Anime Season that you should add to your watchlist right now.

PSYREN

Let’s start off this list with the anime that, while looking a bit generic on the surface, could also end up being one of the sleeper hits of the season: PSYREN. Animated by Satelight, this series follows Ageha, a young man who is concerned about the disappearance of his friend after she received a mysterious card with the word Psyren on it. Unsure of what happened, Ageha begins an investigation it means, eventually leading him to a desolate wasteland, which, as it turns out, is called Psyren. Now in a hostile environment with barely any info, Ageha will have to use all of his wits and skills if he wants to survive and solve the mystery of Psyren.

Like I said, it sounds a tad generic, but the trailer and all of the mystery of what Psyren is and why certain people disappear have piqued my interest. And if I’ve learned anything about anime, it’s that sometimes the most generic-looking show turns out to be one of the best things you watch all year. There’s only one way to find out, though, which is tuning in to watch every episode when PSYREN begins on the 5^th of October.

Black CloverSeason 2

I fucking love Black Clover. I remember back in 2020 when I watched all 170 episodes over two weeks (was built different back then), and how disappointed I was that there was no news of the anime continuing. Sure, there were rumours, and the manga was still ongoing, but an announcement eluded the fanbase. That was until last year, when it was officially confirmed that Black Clover would be coming back, baby! Picking up right where the show left off, with Asta making a formal devil contract with Liebe, we’ll finally get to see their partnership in action. But they won’t have much time, as the Spade Kingdom is still on the march, and Asta’s Magic Knight Squad, the Black Bulls, along with the rest of the Clover Kingdom Magic Knights, are on the back foot. Can they overcome this powerful enemy, or will the Clover Kingdom fall to ruin?

The animation is once again being handled by Pierrot, and it looks like this return will be absolutely amazing. There were so many plot threads left at the end of Episode 170, with the fate of characters left ambiguous, so I’m so keen to reunite with Asta and the crew. There will be a big difference with Black Clover’s return, as the anime is moving to a seasonal release schedule as opposed to the weekly release schedule it had before. While this means we’ll probably only get 24 episodes this season, there will be minimal filler, and ideally, there will be less of a wait for the rest of the series to be animated. But we don’t have to wait long at all for Black Clover Season 2, as it begins airing on the 3^rd of October.

Firefly Wedding

Every season needs a solid romance anime, but this time, we’re getting one with a little twist. Firefly Wedding, animated by david production, follows the noblewoman Satoko Kirigaya, who is running dangerously low on time. After being kidnapped by a ruthless assassin, her options are limited, so she offers them something so absurd that it just has to work: marriage. The assassin accepts her offer, but he ends up getting a little too obsessed with Satoko. She must now navigate this less than ideal marriage while fulfilling her duty as a noblewoman and making sure her new husband doesn’t get any funny ideas.

When I initially saw this anime on the upcoming shows list, I didn’t think much of it, but my interest was piqued when I learned it was being handled by david production. They are the team behind Fire Force, another banger anime with fantastic animation, so I instantly wanted to see how they would handle a romance story. Then I watched the trailer, and the tension in that brief look was enough to hook me. I am very interested to see how the relationship between Satoko and the assassin, Shinpei Goto, evolves over the course of the season, starting on the 9^th October.

The Apothecary DiariesSeason 3

Over the past couple of years, The Apothecary Diaries has been one of my favourite anime. I love watching the mysteries and hijinks Maomao gets herself into, alongside the excellent cast of characters. I’ve specifically enjoyed her relationship with ever-persistent Jinshi, and this new season looks to be giving me more of what I want. After the events of Season 2, Maomao has returned to her old life as an apothecary in the pleasure district, but she doesn’t get to enjoy this peace for very long. She is quickly swept up in another mystery alongside Jinshi and the rest of the country. With the rumours of an immortal woman and the threat of an upcoming famine, Maomao and Jinshi will have to work together again to solve these mysteries and protect the country of Li.

The Apothecary Diaries is one of those shows that makes you think while watching. Sure, you can just watch Maomao do all the detective work, but the show is infinitely better when you join in on the investigation. Trying to piece together what is happening along with Maomao is an absolute joy that you don’t get from many anime, which helps this one to stand out. And then you throw in the excellent world-building and fantastic relationship development between the characters, and you have one of the best anime over the past few years. OLM is returning to handle the animation, which we’ll be able to see in all its glory when The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 starts on the 2^nd October.

Uncle’s Obsession with Cute Things

There are always a few oddball anime every season. Ones that have a questionable title, but end up being some of the most heartwarming stuff you’ll watch all year. That’s exactly what I think will be the case with Uncle’s Obsession with Cute Things by Liden Films. We’ll follow Mitsutaka Oji, the reliable boss of a large company. Everyone admires him, and his serious yet approachable personality has earned him plenty of respect. But he’s been keeping a part of himself hidden away for years, which is his love for all things cute, especially his favourite mascot, Pugtaro. He loves this lil guy, and while he may have a truckload of Pugtaro merch, no one knows about his Pugtaro love. That is, until an unexpected encounter forces him to stop obsessing over cute things in secret and bring his love into the light.

I’m recommending this anime for two reasons. First, I think this will be one of the funniest things you’ll watch this year, and the trailer already has me cracking up over Mitsutaka’s love for Pugtaro. Second, we need more representation of grown men who like cute mascots. I share Mitsutaka’s love for cute and marketable plushies, and I’m tired of feeling a twinge of shame whenever someone looks at me funny after they see the 20 new lil guys I bought this week. We should be allowed to like cute things no matter what, and you can start understanding why when Uncle’s Obsession with Cute Things starts on the 4^th October.

And those are our recommendations for what anime to check out on Crunchyroll this Fall 2026 Anime Season. There are plenty of other great anime also dropping over the next few weeks, and you can check out the full schedule here. Make sure to keep it locked to Couch Soup for even more anime coverage.

Godspeed is back! Full Series and a Movie in Production!
It’s finally happened! Olan Rogers and Ben Bjelajac’s GODSPEED is becoming a full series and a FEATURE FILM! It’s been a while since we heard anything about it, but the not-at-all-Final-Space-Spin-Off (be cool guys) is coming back under the banner of Lightfold. I can’t wait to see what happens to Iris and Bowie!

Official Trailer 2 – The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
The sequels or prequels will never be able to compete with the original Hunger Games Movies; that said, this is looking quite promising. I love the use of color and hippie 60/70s vibes. Exactly what I pictured. What do you think? Will you be in line on opening day?
