Tenn. — An Atoka boy living with autism and ADHD hopes to be the next kid superhero in a new Stan Lee Universe comic book
12-year-old Isaac McMorries is among hundreds of kids in the U.S. and Canada competing in Stan Lee’s Super Kid competition. The Marvel superfan has already made it to the top ten in his age group.
“He is currently fourth place in his group,” said his mom, Maggie McMorries. “The voting for that round ends tomorrow.”

Isaac grew up watching Marvel cartoons and has recently started watching the movies. He said that his favorite Marvel character is, without a doubt, Iron Man.
“Well, he wasn’t born with powers. He sort of built it over time with his suit, and that reminds me about how my brain works different than everyone else’s, and I like that part about myself,” said Isaac.
Isaac’s mom said that, just like Iron Man, her son likes to design his own builds. He also enjoys studying the engineering behind the films, and all things Marvel.

“He makes us sit through all of the credits, every line, not makes us, we enjoy it, too,” said Maggie. “Whoever sews the little tear in somebody’s suit and in that last minute, and they get a credit at the end. He knows everybody.”
Stan Lee was Marvel’s primary creative leader for two decades, expanding it from a small publishing house division into a multimedia corporation that dominated the comics and film industries. He died in 2018 at the age of 95.
The winner of Stan Lee’s Super Kid contest will get their own superhero identity and starring role in a limited-edition comic book, a $25,000 prize, and VIP passes to the 2027 LA Comic Con.
“Oh, that would mean a lot to me to see my face on a comic book. It just means the world to me. I wouldn’t be full on up there with the big guys, but it would at least be nice to be included,” Isaac said.

Isaac and his mom said that a trip to Comic-Con would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“It’s the one with the big names, the producers, the actors. That’s where your cousin got to see Stan Lee himself speak, remember?” Maggie said to her son.
When he isn’t in the Marvel universe, you might find the Tipton County tween running a lemonade stand.
Isaac donates the proceeds to St. Jude and the Tipton County Animal Shelter.

“The reason I do it is to give the kids at St. Jude and the pets at the animal shelter better lives,” said Isaac.
The Stan Lee’s Super Kid competition is also a fundraiser. Money raised from the event will help the Stan Lee Foundation promote youth literacy and the narrative arts.
Public voting runs from September 14 through November 19, and the winner will be announced on December 17. A second child selected by the Stan Lee Universe team will also be featured in the comic book.
