New York Comic Con is already the place to celebrate everything from comics and movies to video games and pop culture, but this year, fans can also hop inside a 2027 Volkswagen Atlas and play Tetris!
That’s right — AirConsole, Volkswagen of America, and The Tetris Company are teaming up at New York Comic Con 2026 for a seriously cool gaming activation that puts the iconic puzzle game directly inside the new Volkswagen Atlas.
From October 8–11 at the Javits Center, NYCC attendees can head over to the Pop Insider booth (#1935) to check out the 2027 Atlas and experience AirConsole’s in-car gaming technology for themselves.
And because this is Tetris we’re talking about, naturally, there’s multiplayer!
Turn the Volkswagen Atlas Into a Tetris Arcade
The centerpiece of the activation is the all-new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas, where visitors can play multiplayer Tetris right on the vehicle’s infotainment display. Even better, players don’t need a traditional controller — their smartphones become the controllers.
Up to four players can join in and compete across several Tetris game modes, making the experience perfect for friends and fellow NYCC attendees looking for a little friendly competition.
But the coolest part might be what happens outside the screen.
The Atlas itself gets in on the action thanks to AirConsole’s immersive lighting integration. As players clear lines in Tetris, the vehicle’s ambient lighting reacts in real time, syncing with the colors of the cleared lines.
Basically, the car becomes part of the game!
Which Tetris Modes Can Fans Play?
The NYCC activation gives players the opportunity to check out several different Tetris experiences, including:
- Sprint: Race to clear 40 lines as quickly as possible, either by yourself or against another player.
- Marathon: Enjoy the classic Tetris experience while chasing the highest possible score in solo or multiplayer.
- Battle: Go head-to-head against opponents, clearing lines and sending pressure their way.
- Online Battle: Take the competition beyond the convention center by battling other Tetris players around the world or creating private rooms for friends.
- Immersive Ambient Lighting: Watch the Atlas react to your gameplay as its ambient lighting changes in response to the lines you clear.
So yes, your Tetris skills could potentially make the Volkswagen Atlas glow.
That is definitely one way to make a road trip more interesting.
AirConsole Meets Tetris and Volkswagen
The NYCC activation highlights the growing partnership between AirConsole and Volkswagen, following the introduction of AirConsole in select 2027 Volkswagen vehicles in the United States.
The platform is available in models including the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and ID. Buzz, making Volkswagen the first volume automotive brand in the U.S. to offer AirConsole’s in-vehicle gaming platform.
Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream, the company behind AirConsole, says New York Comic Con is the perfect place to showcase the technology because it brings together fans who love both classic entertainment and new experiences.
And what better game to bring along for the ride than Tetris?
The Tetris Company CEO Maya Rogers also highlighted the game’s ability to continue evolving alongside new technology, with the Volkswagen Atlas effectively transforming into a multiplayer arcade.

How Does AirConsole Work in the Volkswagen Atlas?
The experience is designed to be pretty simple.
AirConsole is included with Volkswagen’s In-Vehicle Premium plan, which is part of a connected services package enabled by an active myVW+ subscription. Three months of In-Vehicle Premium is included with the purchase of select new 2027 Volkswagen models.
Once everything is set up, players can:
- Enroll the vehicle through the myVW app and make sure the In-Vehicle Premium plan is active.
- Open the AirConsole app through the vehicle’s infotainment system.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using a smartphone.
- Use the smartphone as a controller.
- Pick a game and start playing!
Of course, there is one very important rule: AirConsole gameplay is designed to be used while the vehicle is parked.
So save that high-score attempt for when you’ve reached your destination or are taking a break — definitely don’t try to play Tetris while driving!
