AI doesn’t override consent
Days after an AI-morphed video featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR from Devara: Part 1 (2024) surfaced online, the actor has called its creation and circulation a “serious violation” and “criminal” misuse of technology. “Using technology criminally to objectify women and circulate fabricated content without their consent is a serious violation. It is almost equivalent to sexual assault,” she wrote. Janhvi also stressed that women’s boundaries must not be open to interpretation. Jr NTR had earlier called the video “vile” and “shameful beyond words”, warning of legal action against those responsible.
RGV questions celebrity reactions
Ram Gopal Varma has questioned whether the celebrity outrage had inadvertently amplified the objectionable video. “The smart thing would have been to concentrate on catching the perpetrator and publicise that,” he wrote, arguing that the reactions drew greater attention to both Janhvi and the offensive content
No looking back
Bhuvan Bam admitted that stepping beyond YouTube continues to scare him. Asked by mid-day Entertainment Editor Mayank Shekhar on The Bombay Film Story podcast about whether he ever felt apprehensive about moving into acting, Bhuvan said, “Whenever I do something outside of YouTube; even if I am shooting an ad, or projects like Taaza Khabar, Dhindora, or the Dharma movie that I did recently, or The Revolutionaries, every day I wake up and say, âAaj laaj rakh lena meri bass’. Nobody should say to me, âGo, sit in a room, and go back to making videos on YouTube.’ That’s not what I want to do. I want to follow my dreams, do more than what I am already doing.”
