Fans of Embark Studios’ hit multiplayer games, including ARC Raiders, have some exciting adaptations to look forward to. Following a new deal between Nexon and Chernin Entertainment, the latter will produce linear media content, such as movies and TV shows, based on Nexon’s Embark titles, ARC Raiders, and The Finals.
A new report from Variety reveals that Chernin Entertainment was chosen from a large pool of production companies competing for the rights to adapt the games. The exact nature of the adaptations has not yet been announced.
“Nexon’s agreement with Chernin Entertainment is the next big step in growing ‘ARC Raiders’ and ‘The Finals’ into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community,” said Patrick Söderlund, Nexon executive chairman and Embark Studios founder and CEO. “Throughout the process, the creative teams at Embark Studios will work closely with Chernin to ensure the creativity that defines both of these properties extends into all-new formats.”
What are the ARC Raiders and The Finals video games about?
ARC Raiders is a third-person multiplayer extraction shooter that was released in 2025. Following its launch, the game attracted a massive player base, peaking at over 481,000 concurrent players on PC. Since then, it has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and won the Best Multiplayer Game award at The Game Awards 2025.
The Finals was Embark’s previous multiplayer game. Launched in 2023, it is a first-person competitive shooter featuring fully destructible environments. Since its launch, The Finals has reached over 30 million players, and it continues to receive regular content updates.
“‘ARC Raiders’ and ‘The Finals’ are exactly the kind of opportunities we’ve been building towards at Chernin Entertainment: ambitious global IP with the potential to become major franchises across film and television,” said David Ready, president of film at Chernin Entertainment. “Nexon and Embark have created visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell. We’re honored they’ve trusted us to unite our film and television teams to tell those stories.”
Most recently, Chernin Entertainment co-produced films such as Backrooms, Apex, The Last House, and more. These are not the only multiplayer games to be adapted as features. A Battlefield movie is also in the works with Oscar-winner Michael B. Jordan attached to the project.
It remains to be seen how and when ARC Raiders and The Finals will be adapted to TV and film.
