After finishing second in last year’s constructors championship in what was not a particularly close call against the winners, McLaren, Mercedes has been dominating this 2026 season. It isn’t just the constructors title that they’re leading, however, as both their drivers are atop the driver’s championship leaderboard.
Kimi Antonelli, despite not winning his last two races in Azerbaijan and Bahrain, is the favorite to win the driver’s title. At 320 points, he is 84 points ahead of George Russell, his Mercedes teammate, who sits in second place.
It’s clear that he is ahead of schedule in terms of his dominance, given that he’s merely 20 years old, and Topps is looking to further spread the ‘Kimi gospel’.
Goldin is currently featuring the 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Chrome Autographs SuperFractor #CAC-ANT Kimi Antonelli Signed Rookie Card (#1/1). With over 12 days remaining until extended bidding begins, the auction has already racked up 20 bids.
The card sits at a whopping $270,000. After adding in the 22% buyer’s premium, it currently stands at $329,400.
This can be attributed not only to the fact that this is a one-of-one collectible with a potential champion’s autograph but also due to it being rated a Gem Mint, PSA 10.
If the card were sold today, it would inch toward being the most expensive card featuring Antonelli. The current record is held by the 2025 Topps Chrome F1 Red Refractor #8 Kimi Antonelli Rookie Card.
This sold for $360,510 on Goldin this past April.
The Most Expensive F1 Card Ever Sold And How Valuable Cards Have Become
The 2020 Topps Chrome Lewis Hamilton SuperFractor Autograph PSA 8 sold for over $1 million in December 2024. Both the buyer and the seller decided to keep the sale details private.
This blew past the previous record for the most expensive F1 card sold, which was also a 2020 Topps Chrome F1 Superfractor #1 Lewis Hamilton, 1/1 PSA 7. This sold for $900,000 (post-buyer’s premium) in 2022.
Hamilton is widely considered to be the greatest driver in F1 history, and his seven titles are enough evidence to understand why these cards of his command such value.
However, it isn’t just sports figures and their cards that are driving the collectibles business boom. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and many more fantasy-based trading cards are contributing to this upward trajectory.
Trading card marketplace sales hit an otherworldly $900 million in total sales in August This is triple what the total sales were merely 18 months ago
3.4 million cards were graded, up 47% year-to-year, while PSA has reinvested a reported $200 million in its business.
This spells victory for the realm of collectibles as it showcases just how serious the ‘hobby’ has become.
However, as trading-card mogul Gary Vaynerchuk has preached in the past, make sure to stash away cash when things are starting to heat up, as you’ll need money to practice the ever-old mantra of ‘buy low, sell high’.
